It would probably take a little more than just Othmann… but Id say its probably on a level with the Drysdale trade.
Othmann and a conditional 2nd round pick for Zegras. - aecliptic
That’s the opposite of the drysdale trade. A prospect for a young nhler + a 2nd |

Isn't he kind of what we already have? Undersized and highly skilled, but not a playoff type player.
Obviously he's better than the trash that is 7/12 of our forward group, so it would be an upgrade. But the missing piece? Doubt it |

Ok fine not quite the same. Cutter’s value may be equal to or higher than Drysdale. Id say the Ducks were really high on Cutter and probably wanted to get it done before a bidding war started.
Where as we know what Zegras can do offensively. Kid has serious skill, so the add-on would have to come from us. |

Although, as someone in the medical field who works with orthopedic physicians who have professional players as patients. This timely "injury" may not be as serious as it looks, however he will sell it, and sit until hes traded. |

Of course, only time will tell. However, with Carlsson and MacTavish, they have their 1/2 of the future it seems and Zegras has now become a luxury.
The one thing about Zegras though, is hes supposedly kind of a douche. |

There was an 18-team bidding war behind the scenes. The flyers openly thanked those gms for not leaking anything about this til a deal got done, and it also helped them maximize their return and gauthier's reputation while a deal was in the works |

I was serious!!
Like, Lindros refusing the Nordiques literally changed the landscape of the league. Sending FORSBERG(!!!!) and Ricci to play with Sakic set them up to stabilize the franchise and win the Cup right after moving to Colorado.
Edit:
Checking to see if any other notable players were in that trade sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole. The Nordiques were the OG Oilers!
From 1988 to 1992 they drafted ridiculously high, but they actually succeeded within a handful of years!!
A couple misses and a couple HoFer's:
1988: Curtis Leschyshyn (third overall) and Daniel Dore (fifth overall)
1989: Mats Sundin (first overall)
1990: Owen Nolan (first overall)
1991: Eric Lindros (first overall)
1992: Todd Warriner (fourth overall)
Not one of these players was still with the team when they won the Cup in 96. |

Nope, I watched occasionally back then, really started getting into it around 05/06. |

I know its sacrilege to talk about breaking up 10 16 13, but Zegras is anything but a 3rd line player. I have a very formulaic/rigid view as far as how lines are supposed to be put together. My view is that the 3rd line is a defensive line that can chip in on the scoreboard. Zegras does not play D and he is not good on faceoffs. Someone with the skill level of Zegras needs to be playing between 10 and 13 or you try him on the wing with 20 and 93. Zegras my fill a center role on paper, but he would be very misused on the 3rd line. - aecliptic
Suppose Trocheck went to RW with Kreider and Zib? They’re like the best of friends. The line could be great. Laf and Panarin stay together. I agree it’s sacrilege to break them up. But for Zegras you could.
Kreider Zib Trocheck
Panarin Zegras Laf (oh my)
Cuylle Ruzicka/Novak? Kakko
Vesey Bonino whoever
But that top 6 is dynamite. May have to trade for Ruzicka or someone else, Novak
I thought today maybe trading Othmann is the way to go I’d do for only a handful of guys, and Zegras is one of them. Maybe they were actually showcasing Othmann to Anaheim? Thats possible. This could come out of left field like Drysdale did lol
They need to have mafia like sit down with Goodrow tho. Like it’s time let you go, help us out kind of thing. If you don’t, we whack you in the summer, or you can go live in So Cal
We could call the top 6, ZZ Top |

I wonder if the Rangers were one of the 18 teams, and what the demand was from the Flyers? |
