I get the whole lefty/righty thing but it's going to be interesting to see Sanheim and Drysdale together given how both of their strengths is jumping up in the play creating offense. We shall see. |

Looks like upgraded Ghost (1st year version). Will take it. - missingmike
I believe he'll be more in the vein of a Kimmo with the mobility, vision and intangibles.
He doesn't have Ghost's bomb and attacking instincts.

I saw a lot of comments in regards to being all for the players and they should have more say in where they go etc.
I understand it to an extent. Some places are essentially a death sentence for a career.
But this really bothers me. The fifth overall pick after telling a team he was all in, has a temper tantrum because he didn’t get his way and essentially took his ball and went home. We aren’t even talking like the 30th pick, but the fifth overall pick. Which means a team and its fans sat through an entirely terrible year and it’s only reward for that changed his mind and doesn’t want to play here.
There needs to be protections on draft picks. I don’t know what the answer is, I’m not smart enough, but I lean towards the team holds your rights forever. Don’t sign a contract, you aren’t going anywhere. Play overseas. Tough. Grow up, be a man, collect your money, and make it work. And after your contract expires and you want to be elsewhere have at it. - Flyers1218
Agree 100%. Children shouldn’t be running the draft. |

The biggest benefit I see is the fact that both can skate well to get back if needed, that's exciting factor for me.
Update: Then having both together doing that for 22-24 minutes a night creates a nice tempo. |

Even a loser franchise like the Coyotes got their star college prospect signed. We don't need changes to the CBA just because the dopes running the Flyers lost out on Gauthier. - Feanor

Just curious, outside of them being ex-flyers, what has the new management team done so far to prove they are dopes?

As the stories evolve it certainly seems to be the case that this was temper tantrum because for whatever reason, the Flyers didn’t want to sign him to an ELC last Spring. I don’t have such a huge problem with the kid and his family changing their collective mind and not wanting to come to Philadelphia, this stuff happens for many many reasons. My problem is that he apparently ghosted the Flyers and took an immature approach instead of being a young professional. It certainly shows he’s not a man (yet) mentally or emotionally but still a boy. What he should have done is man up and tell the Flyers what his position is and why. The Flyers could then plan accordingly with certainty and at least have the dignity of knowing. I’ve changed my tune about GMDB lying to the fans after prospect camp, clearly this was to protect the Flyers asset management at the time in an unknown circumstance. I imagine the last straw was when Briere and Jones went halfway across the world to talk with the kid and he wasn’t even man enough to meet with them or take their call. That’s now in the past and the Flyers scored big time with Drysdale. |

This is mostly on Gauthier in my opinion. All because the Flyers didn't want him to come out early? Puhleehz, grow up kid.

I love the new Flyers management team so much. The communication with the fans and media is so much better with Jonesy and Hilferty in place and Briere has shown he's willing to make moves (and fun, logical ones at that) rather than sitting on his hands like Chuck 'Bias for Action' Fletcher |

Agreed.
I would though, like to see them change the rule from 2 years to 4 when it comes to draft rights. Having to wait until they are 22 or 23 to sign with another team and play in the NHL might prevent this scenario from happening. |

Again this is all based on if all info that's been told is completely true, but it sounds like he finished 1st year and wanted that bonus money while getting him 1 year closer to getting a non-ELC contract. The Flyers were looking at what was best for him and he got offended because it didn't go his way. Whether that's him or the camp...it's a good way to start off on the wrong foot.
The way I look at it, he has the option to do what's best for himself, but also has to deal with the consequences of his actions. Coming in to the NHL he better not start slow, he doesn't get the benefit of "he's young give him time". If an athlete is going to dictate anything before proving anything, they better be damn good from day 1.
I may not of been the biggest Lindros fan, but he backed it up. |

Ya know what I like about the comments section today? We all went through a traumatic event together… and we are all here rooting for the same guy now to have success.
I really dislike Biz but he said if we get a wild card spot, this sort of disrespect/embarrassment could really bring a team together and to watch out!

Hopefully he doesn't staple Brink, Frost, and Foerster to the bench in the 3rd. The Flyers won't be able to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot with the current distribution of ice time throughout the lineup. Commit to a 2nd and 3rd line already. Enough already with the ridiculous 11 fwds/7dmen nonsense. Scratching ND is definitely a great start. Please fire the PP coach yesterday. Can someone please fix Atkinson. I swear he's like 0-11 on breakaways this season. |

Expect considerable shuffling of wingers beyond the first line. But it looks like they'll start this way at the beginning of the game:
86 Joel Farabee - 14 Sean Couturier - 11 Travis Konecny
74 Owen Tippett - 48 Morgan Frost - 89 Cam Atkinson
71 Tyson Foerster - 21 Scott Laughton - 19 Garnet Hathaway
xxxxxx (rotation) - 25 Ryan Poehling - 10 Bobby Brink
6 Travis Sanheim - 9 Jamie Drysdale
8 Cam York - 26 Sean Walker
24 Nick Seeler/ 5 Egor Zamula - 55 Rasmus Ristolainen
33 Samuel Ersson

I am excited to see Drysdale. He can really skate well and I cant wait to see what kind of dynamic he brings to the PP over the next few weeks. - MBFlyerfan
Me too. I think he’ll be a real upgrade on a pp that almost cannot get any worse. Going to have to give it some time to get the mojo working however. |

I'm excited about Drysdale as well with reasonable expectations, but don't worry the normal turds will eventually show up to cherry pick every little thing he does wrong and scream "SeEeE fLyErS sUcK...tHeY DuM dUms" |

I don't necessarily disagree with anything you say here, but am bemused by all this "manliness" stuff.
The draft order exists to bring about parity. Parity exists to maximize revenue for the league, which includes the players share.
It is thus in the interest of all parties to close the loophole. It will be closed. In the meantime, an employee took a perfectly legal route and did what he felt was best for himself.
Which part of this involves manliness?

Two things, I don't really care about communication, I care about results. Fletcher had a bias for action? He signed Kevin Hayes, traded for Ellis, traded for Ristolainen and traded Voracek for Atkinson. I wish to God he had a bias for action. Not sure what you're talking about there.

you think they will try and move one of Walker, Seeler or RR sooner than later? I think with Cates coming back, ND down, you will have 4 lines, I can see them rotating Zam with RR or others in the short term but I would think they would not want to do that till the TDL??

Ghosting the Flyers was likely a deliberate strategy, designed by his agent, and designed to force a trade asap.
And oh, that immature and unmanly strategy attained precisely the objective it was designed for.
