Decade of misery on the menu for the Blues and their fans.

Don’t think they’ll model their rebuild after the Sabres.

Why would Detroit move Perron though?
- glove_was_stuck

Perron probably isn't going anywhere. He's been very valuable to Detroit. He's on the top line and plays the top PP unit. He's also a clutch scorer in tight games and scores in shootouts. I have a hard time seeing Yzerman moving him unless he gets an offer that is amazing and can't pass up. Wings are pushing hard for the playoffs and are in the 3rd playoff seed for their division... but it's a super tight race in the Atlantic and Eastern Conf.

Kind of funny how these hockey pundits are so dismissive of Detroit... saying they could not "sustain" the type of success they had at the start of the season. Well... look at the standings now and where we are in the season. Unless they get hit with the injury bug they have an excellent shot at the playoffs. I'd say Yzerman knows what he's doing. Once our top prospects crack the lineup it will get interesting.

Every player mentioned is on the condition that teams fall out of the playoff race. If Detroit hangs around, then Perron and Kane are staying. If Seattle wins 8 more in a row, then Eberle isn't going anywhere.

You are missing the main point...most contenders would prefer a pure rental over a guy like Buchnevich who is on the books for $5.8M next year, and then you either pay higher or lose him for nothing. So if Detroit stays in the race and Toronto loses 10 in a row, then pure rentals like Bertuzzi and Domi enter the market.

Rags should be interested for their top line. They have a big hole on the right side that they haven't been able to fill since.....since, Buch was traded away

Yep. That was a terrible decision when it happened and has probably aged even worse than expected initially.

Makes zero sense to me. They're not watching is what that tells me.

Nope sure didn't. Shouldn't tell people what they know/don't know when posting a questionable take there chief. In regard to Perron, Vladie's post said it best. The others you listed I get but Detroit would either be upgrading or making a really stupid decision moving Perron.

How does one go to Free Agency and Unsigned? Sounds like a double negative.
