I'm not sure why the Flyers made this an issue. Seriously, in what universe was he not going to make this team? Even with as well as they are playing now, he would still make it. For some unknown reason, the macho Flyers turned it into a Richard measuring contest, and that is all you need to know about this world class organization. This has more Jones on it than Brier. Being a knuckle dragger (that could not fight), Jones had to scrape for everything he got....I'm guessing he is jealous - mr4tno
Honestly, DB probably wasn’t sure at that point. In hind sight he should have signed the kid and if he needed seasoning then so be it. Briere made the fatal mistake of trying to be honest and do right by the kids development….what an idiot. |

Briere wasn't handed anything. He was a very skilled player, but on the small side. He put in his time in the AHL and there's that whole story about him training, in the offseason, with a strongman before he was able to secure a fulltime spot in the NHL. |

Imagine being dumb enough to threaten unsigned Cutter Gauthier with AHL time at the end of last season when the bottom feeder Flyers were playing forwards like Bellows, Deslauriers, Allison, Laczynski, Lemieux and the soon to be traded with $10.7m worth of retention Kevin Hayes.
That's 5 AHL-level forwards, and another guy the team already knew would not be back under any circumstances. |

I didn't see it as a threat. I saw it as reality, especially with Torts as the coach. All the kid would have needed to do was play well. Instead he pulled a Cartman.

Imagine being so fragile that the organization didn’t just hand you a job you took your ball and went home? |

Really pathetic on the players part. Organization is honest, and correct, to do what’s best for the player. |

Yeah, it sucks for Gauthier to be traded to a warm weather city and a team that has actually won a Cup in the last 50 years.
Meanwhile the Flyers have exactly one good center on the roster aged under 30, and they spent most of this season screwing him around even though they knew Gauthier was a goner. |

Who are you a fan of? There isn’t anyone in the hockey world that is siding with Gauthier. |

Gauthier was good enough to have a great World Champs for USA last May, but wasn't good enough to play a dozen games for the sad sack Flyers in March and April. The stories you suckers have to tell yourselves to defend the honor of this failure of a franchise only get sillier as the Cup drought gets longer.

Torts gave both Bobby Brink and Tyson Foerster a roster spot, knowing there probably wasn’t enough room for both of them. I personally believe Brink out played Foerster right out of camp and Foerster should have been sent down. Things didn’t play out that way. If Gauthier is paying attention, there was never a high bar to make this team. |

Who are you a fan of? It’s a direct question. - roenick97
I am a fan of the Flyers which is why I've been posting on here for over a decade. However, I'm not an angry loser who thinks Gauthier had to sign with them if he didn't want to. And I'm not alone in thinking that.

Gauthier had a right to speak up to change employers, and the Flyers had a right to not move him until they were satisfied with the talent they’d be getting in a deal for him. Not every story has a happy ending for all teams and all fan bases at the pro hockey level, but there should be no bitterness toward Gauthier now that this trade has taken place. He won’t be the last player to force his team’s hand, and he certainly wasn’t the first. |

Do you know for a fact that he's not a snow guy? Some people enjoy all 4 seasons.....

I know most of the NHL players with no trade lists have all the Canadian teams on there.

Who is Feanor a fan of? I don’t need to read stories and links. I just need you to do your own thinking for a second so I can understand your logic. Cutter Gauthier will disappear in a day, week or month but the Flyers will still be here as you find another reason to complain. So once again, who are you a fan of? |

Certainly not the first but probably the highest profile. You can't deny the damage it did in terms of teams thinking twice about drafting college kids. You're not always going to get a Drysdale as a consolation prize. |
