I have to believe that the majority of NHL players grew up in cold weather locations. Spent their time on ice and outdoor rinks. Media coverage and taxes/conversion rates would probably trump cold/snow. Just spitballin:-) - cdearth23
Just the ability to live a normal life is a big one.
Connor McDavid could walk around almost anywhere in the US and 99.9% of folks wouldn't even give him a second glance.
Good luck living a normal, peaceful life in Canada if you're a NHLer.
And yeah... that media coverage and general scrutiny. Yikes.
(Kudos to players that thrive living under that microscope, tho) |

1000-1500 out of NY in May depending what time you leave; so say 2500 for 2 peeps
no Air bnb. I like hotels and to be waited on!!! Be able to get what a need when I want it. say 1400 for hotel @200 for 7 nights.
food a drink per day, what 300? so another 2100.
Think your off base on this one. - hello it's me 2050
Well, any estimate is dependent on timing and comfort level. I thought you were contemplating going sooner, not height of tourist season. I didn't know you wanted to be "waited upon". Or that drinks were mandatory. I also didn't realize there were 2 people.

You know that every post you leave has a day and time, right? All day everyday.
Oh my mistake, you started at 9:44am today, which isn’t much better. |

Of course I’m posting. I’m not at work and the weather is bad in Michigan. What’s your excuse week after day after day, week after week? You live such a first class life and yet here you are. |

True dat. Toronto and Montreal are obviously notorious for the media scrutiny but I heard every market is intense. The tax rates are also not in their favor. Not sure if it was an exaggeration but someone said Toronto players have 40% taken out...??? |

just curious, if Couturier and Drysdale don't play tonight should I assume I'll never see them on the ice again? |

I feel like the last time I saw Drysdale, he was having a catch with Greg Brady on the Brady Bunch.

Really pathetic on the players part. Organization is honest, and correct, to do what’s best for the player. - ClaudeFather
I found it interesting that when the Flyers started shopping Quitter around, some teams passed right away. Apparently some NHL teams knew more about the kid and the situation than other teams. |

Yeah, it sucks for Gauthier to be traded to a warm weather city and a team that has actually won a Cup in the last 50 years.
Meanwhile the Flyers have exactly one good center on the roster aged under 30, and they spent most of this season screwing him around even though they knew Gauthier was a goner. - Feanor
Gauthier's not a center. |

Ersson in goal tonight, interesting. JD feeling better but no commitment from Torts on if he is in the lineup. |

For a player that's not a center. He sure is playing a lot of center.

You’ve never taken a week off and stayed home just to simply not go to work? Weird, I guess that makes me an idiot.
