Maybe I’m overvaluing aggression from a d-man because it’s been so long since this team has had any truculence. I thought it was a good trade for something needed and it would be great for it to work out. - bloatedmosquito
Canucks had Luke Schenn and Kyle Burroughs. I'd say for the price the Canucks paid, it has worked out for them. At 4M plus, I don't know if there is a long term fit. |

I think they need more of an offensive type centerman if they're going to acquire someone. I'd see if Ottawa would trade Josh Norris and retain some of his salary, they need a shakeup and he's a young offensive type center under long term contract. Maybe add in Tarasenko too, he can play wing. - Pacificgem
Where are the Canucks going to fit in 7.9M for the next 6 seasons? |

If the Canucks were to ask for 1.5M retained, sign all more important players to reasonable raises. Play with Juulsen and Friedman full time on the right side. Trade Kuzmenko and start the season with a 21 man roster. That could work.
That's also without signing Cole or Zadorov. Plus having at least 4 players currently on Abbotsford in the line up. |

You just have to ship Kuzy to Chicago and you've got 5.5 million in cap space for a young center, which is much more pressing need than a scoring winger. Even with EP40 at 11.5 million and Hronek at say 6-7 million you'd have plenty of space for a young center at 6.5 million for next year. |

It's being reported all over X that Chicago is interested in Kuzy and they have the cap space, no it's not that simplistic but I'm just spit-ballin...you self-righteous twat. |

22 $87,500,000 $83,296,667 $4,203,333 (doesn't include 2.4) for OEL.
Hronek, Filip $7,000,000
Pettersson, Elias $11,500,000
Blueger, Teddy $1,900,000
Joshua, Dakota $1,000,000

Cole, Ian $3,000,000
DeSmith, Casey $1,800,000

Here's a sample mock of what you are thinking trading for Norris(1.5M retained) and trading away Kuzmenko. I gave almost no raise, pretty well just re-signed everyone as is.
Pettersson Miller Boeser
Mikheyev Norris Lafferty
Joshua Blueger Garland
Hoglander Suter Aman
PDG
Hughes Hronek
Soucy Juulsen
Cole Friedman
Wolanin
Demko
DeSmith

Clearly you’d have to let a few guys walk and utilize entry level contracts, and or trade that midget Garland, kinda goes without saying. |

Did Bo Horvat make the team better or did having a better defence and secondary scoring make it better?
ELC are great if they produce. |

Just to be a nice guy, this is some advice, you are welcome in the Canucks blog to discuss hockey, but being a disrespectful wienerhead will get you a lengthy timeout.
This is like #3 post of yours that you have tried to insult and bait, no more, thanks. |

Seravalli on the skills competition:
As someone referred it to me, they said it's 11 of the best players in the world and JT Miller.
(DFO pod)
Let's hope he just uses the disrespect to hoist the Stanley cup above his head in a real nice F U.
(not saying he is a top 12 player but just the attitude towards him) |

I wouldn't be so sure about that. If they get the first overall pick again. NHL made the rules very good for Chicago to get Bedard and Celebrini. There's your Kane and Toews. Nolan Allen or Ethan Del Mastro could turn into Seabrook. Korchinski and Rinzel big pucking moving D.
I don't think they make players like Hossa anymore. - manvanfan
lol it's much more than 4-5 players but I get what you are saying. If they draft and develop well they could be good for many years but man if you look at the rosters for those hawks Cup teams very deep. Don't think they will ever get to that point again even as good as Bedard and a few other draft picks may be. Different eras. |

The West back then was MUCH more open than it was nowadays, plus the Eastern Conference tended to have the better teams and tended to win the Cup because the West would beat themselves up to get to the Finals whereas the East had a much easier path. |

One of my ideas now or as a UFA. Don’t see Canes as a seller. Probably still hunting for scoring. |

There is a rumor I heard from some Euro pro scouts. Vegas is going to keep their injured on LTIR and with the cap space add Jake G and Lindholm to sucker punch the Canucks. They will give away all their remaining future for a repeat.
