With me I realize the UFA rental market for RW is more plentiful AND cheaper to obtain. While center, we’ve seen already, cost an arm and a leg. If they trade Kakko it should be for a center (non rental-preferably RFA status), and if happens to be Drury, I’d take it and run and dont look back.

We can recover even he does blossom elsewhere. We have four top 4 wingers if you look ahead anyway and 2 more that could potentially be top 9. Or Chytil would move to RW.

I saw someone mention mittlestadt, who’s another id trade him for. Turcotte, frost, a few others. Imo that’s the direction we should go and not worry about the team he’d go to

One guy made a good point about center vs rw in there, and he’s right…it’s harder to obtain a good center and it’s likely to cost a better player than the one you give up. Positional value

Begs the question, is it worth it just for this year? The overall thought is theres just too much to fix to make us a legitimate contender this year. Is there something particularly special about this year that makes you feel like doing all this is worth it? Or is doing all this is something that will give you personal peace of mind? The thought that, "oh atleast they tried".

I see a 3 yr window. If it isn’t this year, then we’re down to two. That’s when Panarin is off the books. He’s never been better than he is right now and before you know it, he'll be too old and not as good. Maybe they re-sign him but he’ll surely have lost a step by then, so we’ll need another “hero”.

But we’re good enough now because we really don’t need a star. We need around the edges type stuff, stuff that shouldnt cost us an incredible amount to get. Guys that won’t cost a first is a start, and go from there

Additionally, the devils need to scare us. They’re are going to be AWESOME and that’s when we’re in trouble. They get a few years under their belt and they will own this town again (and they already took the first battle). We have kids but we don’t have ones to match theirs (collectively). They are loaded. We need to win before they do so we almost can’t wait for a better opportunity
