Hains: In Hainsight: Back to Work
The Canadiens came back to work after the All-Star break on Sunday and they trained a couple of times before flying out to Washington to take on the Capitals tomorrow. |

The next 30 days should be fun from a HuGo point of view, not as much from a on ice product.
The 5th position at the draft is within reach, Habs need to lose often and the Sens and Wild need to play well (Wild are 1pt behind MTL, Sens are 6 with 2 games in hand). Columbus has the same number of points as Ottawa but they are decimated with injuries, don't see them winning much.
7-Habs: 48pts (49GP)
6-Wild: 47pts (49GP)
5-Sens: 42pts (47GP)
4- Columbus: 42pts (50GP)
As Pat always says, you don't rebuild teams by being middle of the pack, if sucking for a while is what is needed, I am on board! |

He did not technically say you were right.
He was saying when you happen to be right, you are right.

talking to me while replying to Pete isn't helping to alleviate the confusion, but it's totally on par with HB, so I'll embrace it.

My only problem right now is that if gignac stays in mtl for a while, Laval might miss the playoffs because of this
is he not their first line center? |

his contract basically makes him "waiver safe", 400K guaranteed money.
This is a short time stop gap until they pick up a guy on waiver to finish the season and send everyone back to Laval that is needed for the playoffs push, that should include Xhekaj.
Another guy expected to come to Laval to finish the season is Reinbacher, could be available as early as right after the TDL. Worse case later in March due to his team position in the standings in Switzerland. |

from a roster point of view, yes. From a rebuilding/asset point of view, Savard is healthy, has value (even more with 50% retained). Might be time to move him.
They need to find a home for Allen.
When will they start talking about buying out Gallagher...only a matter of time.
-Symba
Can't have only youngster, otherwise we will end up like Edmonton and suck for 10 years
then for Gally, they will never discuss it...

Gallagher buyout....summer 2025, he will have 2yrs left, 10.5M left to pay on a 13M cap hit (for 2yrs left).
Buyout cap hit would be:
2025-26 1.75M
26-27 4.25M
27-28 1.75M
28-29 1.75M

Habs season is over was my point, but Laval still could make the playoffs
seeing both teams sinking at the same time would be sad and I think wrong for Laval
we will see I guess |
