I really want to analyze this closely for you guys. Last year, I know for fact that NYR preferred Kane over Tarasenko. Kane was always the plan and it was just able to work with both Kane + Tarasenko on the salary cap. They had no plans of ever saying no to Patrick Kane for as long as he decided he wasn't going to shut himself down.

Currently, Rangers need a RW1. We know NYR have interest in Vatrano, and we know Tarasenko would love to be back here (would force way). So why hasn't a trade happened yet? There is really nothing in the way. Drury can EASILY get it done. So what's going on?
The only thing in the way, truth is, is that Drury is not wanting to acquire either of them right now. Why?

He is waiting on Kane, who he prefers the most out of the three, and Kakko offers. Detroit plays Vancouver twice and Edmonton their next three games. (Kane will be back in the line up -- he's feeling great again). If lose all three, you will see on the rumor mill % that Patrick Kane % will jump up and Tarasenko's + Vatrano's will fall. If Detroit win 2 of those 3 games, then you will see Tarasenko + Vatrano's %s rise higher.

From what I currently know on Patrick Kane is:

1. You are going to be seeing New York Rangers scouts at Detroit's games.

2. He's happy in Detroit and there's been talk of extension, but he's refused to sign extension because he wants to play in the playoffs -- so he's waiting to see.

3. He loved being a New York Ranger, and if traded, he is highly highly likely to choose Rangers with his full no movement clause just like he did last year.

So of course it makes sense that Drury is going to wait this out, until picture is fully clear...and that's coming very soon.
