Thats what the god forsaken charts try and do. Compare prospects across different leagues. Those numbers are meaningless against NCAA numbers - picklerick
Right, but you were the person who said Gabe is off to a hotter start. If the points are meaningless, how do you consider Gabe being off to a better start than Othmann? What are you basing it off of if not for points & production?

LOL Okay so you're basing your opinion on something you know nothing about. Got it!
Thanks Rick

A) My name's not actually rick just so you know
B) What? The charts show, over time, a player's likelihood of becoming a 1) full-time NHLer and 2) star. It is not my opinion but that of the output |

Here are his linemates drafted much higher than him - picklerick
I was at the Bean Pot on Monday (BU vs BC, BU won). Besides Celebrini, Gabe was head and shoulders the best player on the ice for both teams. He was the most notable and creative player. Skating was a little all over the place and he lacked size, but he’s legit. |

Ahh well I just called you what you called yourself... my names really Mike
I see what the chart shows me. What you said was Gabe is off to a better start than Othmann which I just don't really see and was asking for you to explain how you think that. A chart that shows the likelihood of someone becoming an NHL player / Star isnt the same as showing whether one player is further along in their development than the other when they were playing Juniors/College.
All I am saying is I want to know what determines Gabe being in a better position than Othmann if not for points/production. That is all. Not trying to argue at all, just a discussion.

It's also based off age and league. It's a not an apples to apples example. |

Good, but not in the same league as Celebrini or Perreault. One game sample size… |

I know it's players the same Age. With Leonard, Smith and Perrreault it's easier to break down. Perrault vs Othmann is a little harder given the variables. |

This. Thank you Tom. There seems to be no clear answer as to why Gabe is off to a "much better start" than Othmann other than a chart that says so with no other explanation. Different leagues and players playing in them at different times, but what makes one better than the other if not for points? Genuinely curious

Hockey Prospecting standardizes player scoring across the board and uses historical performances to chart how prospects will perform in the NHL. Our model removes intangible biases such as age, size, league, position and nationality. We do this by putting all players on the same playing field, based on their offensive production. Too often a player’s size, age or background is held against them. Not here.
Our model goes all the way back to 1990, with over 6,000 players in total. By comparing the offensive production of all players during that time we found a pattern, which shows how a players’ scoring production, normalized by league, along with the rate they develop, can predict which players will succeed and/or thrive at the NHL level. The history in the model also allows us to provide comparisons to existing and former players, to show you whose career a prospect might be mimicking. |

Hey we're getting somewhere!! So it's basically centered around production points in the NCAA must be weighted much more than points in the O |

I saw Perrault last month and was impressed. He simply needs time to grow. I think its gonna be a 2 year wait for him to possibly make the jump to the pro game. He has the hands and the IQ, he just needs to mature his body ---- get 20+ pounds of muscle on him and welcome to the Garden! |

it seems logical that he isn't ready yet and needs one more year of college at least
but, maybe not...

It was this difficult because I asked you the question and instead of pasting that immediately you decided to yell at me and say you didnt know
