Just another example of taking the human element out of the game. I don’t think adding players and using assets is the right move. The other side of the spectrum is give everyone away and throw this season away. There can be a middle ground of “send it” without doing either. I’m sure they’d appreciate your lack of belief in this team that has over achieved in incredible fashion.

As Bill said, “sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make”

So they owe it to the locker room.....when do they owe it to the fans? I have been a fan since I got off the plane in 1980...Supported the team, see them play live, buy merchandise...when do they start doing things properly?

They have stated rebuild, reminded us they are rebuilding, and still scream rebuild....but they are not doing anything to indicate an actual rebuild is happening. I don't give a flying buddha about the playoffs this year. None. There were no expectations to start the year, and there still are no expectations on my behalf. I feel they are doing the same things over and over, and so far, there is no change from how the team was run before DB became GM.

The Provy return is questionable...that Peterson contract, with another year still...$6 million in actual salary should have been a first and the prospect by itself...it"s a multi year, $5 million cap hit at a position where you only have 2 players per team. $5m cap hit at forward is easier to fit in. So we traded Provy essentially for a 2nd and Walker....and everyone thought Walker was a cap dump at the time the trade happened....I just don't think it was enough.

I have no faith this is going to be a success.

Dude, I hate to say this…but isn’t there, like, a mod or something that can start throwing out 10’s and chilling this poop out?

Exactly, when you get older Valetine's day is no different than Groundhog's day. If you need to show love on a specific day then you lack love throughout the year.

Considering what they likely already knew regarding Hart I wouldn’t say obtaining Peterson is “nothing.”

They’ve done “nothing” to indicate a rebuild? Look at how many young guys are playing this year…

The women may say they don’t care if you do nothing - I don’t buy it. I don’t care if I’m 70 I’ll still do Valentine’s Day.

The problem I have is with impatient fans is...just because nothing happened doesn't mean they didn't try to make something happen. I just don't understand how so many people have this video game mentality, it's not about submitting a proposal and accept/deny. It takes two or more parties willing to participate. If every trade looked like the Hayes trade then the Flyers could make 100 trades a year with no issue.

I saw it from the start of the season, people probably listed on their soon to be UFAs and guys getting older and said "They should trade all these players!"...well every team has UFAs and they are not all getting traded, even from all the teams out of the playoffs.

Very few say "I don't want anything" and actually mean it...VERY few, but I still don't care. If you say it then that's what I hear and nothing else.

Then again I am lucky, i guess...she buys all her own gifts and wraps them (Xmas AND Birthday) then tells me I got her "this".

Also I have a woman who celebrates the WHOLE month of April for her Birthday, if there's another woman out there that does that I have never heard of it.

Excellent point about owing it to the fans. This who idea that you can't trade a player or two off of this team because it will upset the room, is completely ludicrous. The idea is to build a team capable of challenging for a cup. Hopefully one that can do so over a significant period of time. The current team is not that team. The room means nothing at this point. Build that team and the room will take care of itself. If removing one or two players ruins the room, you didn't have much of a room to start with. It's amazing the same guy who has been stating that they should trade Ristolainen or Laughton now questions what trading Walker will do to the room? It's hysterical.

The GM and President and Coach have all said, on the record (something like) ‘we can’t get emotional about this team’.

I’m not asking if you believe them….that’s a whole other issue…but if you take them at their word:

What does that mean to you?

I don't take them at their word. Especially the coach. Can't trust a word he says. Action is all that matters to me.

Cool…well, I still feel actions, no matter the “reasons” back up what they are saying so far

Not for nothing, I also feel picking Mitchkov over Leonard or anyone else reenforces that

Also, what is the minimum it will take for you to “take them at their word”?

If they trade Laughton and Walker for futures by the end of the draft?

Do they NEED to trade Konecny as well to prove it to you?

So much for not wanting to get into a back and forth as you bring it up again. If the reason why you move any player is not to rebuild, then that move does not back up that they're rebuilding. Neither the Hayes or the Provorov deals support that the Flyers are rebuilding.
Picking Michkov, a draftee was just about who the better player is in their eyes. Choosing one player over another does not reinforce that. There is no guarantee that any player will reach the NHL in a given time.

No, I don't think they need to trade Konecny to prove it. I think they should though. Just making a couple of moves doesn't not prove it. A true rebuild should take a considerable period of time. If they make a few moves and then go right back to trying to win again, that won't prove it to me. I want to see a concerted and focused effort that leaves no doubt.

You are right….i couldn’t help continuing this conversation because im so dang adamant about it. I just didn’t want to get to name calling and such.

But I still honestly do NOT agree there is any difference on WHY anyone is gotten rid of in the overall “rebuild” scenario as long as they are GONE.

Another great interview today from Torts pregame. He evaluated Frost's performance, positively I might add. However I want to ask everyone here to listen and then decide for yourselves who you should believe regarding Frost's performance, those on this site that try to tell you Frost has played awesome since last year or a coach with 723 career NHL wins and a Stanley Cup. I know who I am listening to.
- jd250

Reminder: Torts in NY didn't think Mats Zuccarello could be an NHL regular and, in Columbus, that William Karlsson was a 4th liner. He gets things wrong sometimes, too. If Briere and Brent Flahr hadn't been believers in patience with Frost, Tortorella would have pulled the plug.

The fellas at NHL Network on Sirius/XM think that Walker is going nowhere cause he would only get s 3rd round pick in return. They don't think they will do much trading with the new turn of events of the season (looking like they may make the dance). They also said that Torts is a shoe in to be at least in the top 3 nominees for the Jack Adams! Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
