Feels like -12 here in London and we got about 6” of snow last night. But you’re right, it is such a nice day out there I didn’t even mind being outside shovelling and salting everything

(((🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨)))

I’m live on the phone with one of my sources, a trusted insider, in St Paul Minnesota and it’s just been made known that a trade with the Maple Leafs is imminent. Sheldon Keefe’s obvious displeasure with Nylander last game has some speculating that the Leafs are having second thoughts on giving the defensive-lacking RW’er that massive contract, and they might try to move him before his NMC kicks in. Brad Treliving is firm on demanding Faber as part of the deal, but so far Bill Guerin is unwilling to budge. “We’ll have to see more from the Leafs if Faber is involved” Guerin is rumoured to have said. The Leafs have hinted that they could add more with Treliving be quoted as saying, “we’ll see” when asked if the Leafs are willing to give up more. The Maple Leafs could use centre depth, and that’s leading some to wonder if Eriksson Ek could be involved, so the Leafs could maximize Tavares potential on the wing.

Now that I stirred up a hornet's nest and stuck my tool into it, I think I will withdraw my stung-up angry member and resolve not to do that again.

Look, I get that we aren't gonna agree on all things outside of hockey. It's nothing personal. I sound judgey sometimes, but it's just my contrarian personality that gets the best of me. I honestly would sit and have a drink with almost any one of you in this Leafs forum. I can't say that about some of the folks that skulk around Ek's threads.

I wanna see a victory parade in Toronto or Tampa. I don't honestly care if we agree about climate change, social issues, politics, religion, or any of that other poop that pollutes the wider web.

Who said this? They’re obviously unaware his M-NTC on his current contract immediately flipped to a full NMC once he signed his next contract.

I need better sources.

Anyhow, it’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out. The Nylander sagas aren’t over yet. I’m not nit-picking Willy here for no reason. But can we discuss the incident from two night ago? He got the GWG, and that’s great, he’s clutch!

But before that there was a series of events that had Keefe fuming. Is it off-topic to talk about this? There was two horrible turnovers in the first period where Willy either whiffed, or had a brain fart. Ok, no big deal really… but Keefe was livid. Willy then goes out and trucks a guy behind the net, full on charges him. I applaud him in here. He also aggressively won puck battles, and ended up with the GWG (thanks Mitch for your lovely pass).

My question is, why at the age of 27, does Willy need Keefe to reem his ass on the bench? And why can’t he sustain that kind of play? Willy needs an agitator on his line. Clearly the Leafs are seeing issues with his game and they’re letting him know that they’re not letting him get away with it.

I think the plan is, sign him and make him hate being here. Make him play physical, make him block shots. He’ll either change to stay with his buddies, or demand a trade out.

I had a glorious day planned.

Round of sim golf with buddies.

Dog walk.

Wings at St. Louis, then head down to the Leafs game.

And to start the day, COVID test with my morning coffee.

I’m now quarantined in the bedroom - the rest of the house has tested negative. I’m 99% certain I got it from my daughter, but she must be over it by now.

I.know this has been widely reported, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how it’s possible.

The CBA is pretty clear that existing contracts can’t be renegotiated.

Man oh man how many overly mature 27 year olds do you know? Part of the reason NHL coaches make good money is to literally keep people in their 20s on the mature side of things not the immature. This is due to most people in their 20s flip flopping when it comes to maturity.

Actually no, the NTC can be adjusted since it has no effect on the $. I wondered that myself and looked it up. Forgot where I found it but I remember believing it was valid. Capfriendly is also very on top of all contract specifications and they’re now showing it as a NMC as well when before they did have it as a M-NTC

Matthews and Marner at 19 knew to get back.

Keefe on Saturday emphasized an urgency to get back into the play, and it’s obvious he was referring to Nylander. That’s why he was pissed off on the bench.

I really think it’s operation “Tough Love” for Nylander right now. Keefe caught a ton of flak for not being hard enough on everyone. So I think Tre said, “ok Willy, we’ll sign you. Want to keep your job Sheldon? Then fix these young guys.” You can see the seriousness on everyone’s face rn.

Again, kudos to Willy for showing it for 45mins last game. But he needs to bring that on his own, every game. No excuses anymore he’s old enough. He’s making insane money, the Leafs are getting their value out of him one way or another.

I haven’t got the latest one. Got every one before that.

Symptoms are really minor - a few sniffles, very minor sore throat.

He’s not making the $11.5 yet so technically it’s not quite insane for a bit longer lol

And Matthews is solid defensively, I do t worry about him, Marner however isn’t physical, doesn’t block shots, and dances with the bloody puck a bit too much. In the offensive zone sure but in his own zone or around the red line where he skates back towards his net is something he does waaaaaaaay too often tbh.

It’s the coaches job, stop expecting people in their 20s to be non stop mature, that’s simply not how people his age tick.

There are many star players who aren’t always good defensive players. In my opinion Willy is probably middle of the pack when it comes to defensive play. He’s probably better than draisaitl and Tavares.

I’ve actually been looking it up again, having a M-NTC changed to that isn’t quite how it’s done, what they can do is simply add the NMC along with it which of course simply turns it into a full NMC. Nylander is nowhere near the first NHLer to get this.

My doctor told me that she’s had it twice and both times it was just before she was eligible for the next booster so the effectiveness of the shot was at its lowest.

Kyle Kulinski is pretty good too.

Kyle and Dave Smith are probably two of my favourite political commentators on JRE.

I despise Peterson and all of his opinions. Cool thing about podcasts is that if i dont like the guests, i can just not listen to it.

Him shooting the poop with comedians is a lot of fun, too.

Edit: I didn't backread all the way. Sorry Dozzer. I'll shall continue no more. Big shock.. nobody in here can have a rational discussion about a polarizing topic.
