Nah - can't be- tradition has it that you need that one minor to become statistically relevant- so he needs to trip someone in front of the ref.

But ... soon.

Valid point, valid point. I'll go with the ever popular hooking call.

Probably some disenchanted fans in Pittsburgh

First they get Fields from Chicago Bears. Although, he only cost either a 4th or 6th round pick determined by how much Fields plays

Next Crosby is dealt

Not good times in Pittsburgh

I’m just starting to get into football, a 6th (or even a 4th) seems like a very low price to pay for fields. Do draft picks have different value in football vs. hockey?

It's a weird year, supposedly the rest of the league feels like Fields is a backup QB, not a starter.

Theres a lot of talk about footwork, timing issues and not seeing the field well many times. So he's still a project.

A complaint I always have heard is that Fields needs to look off primary passing target and completing pass to another player. He hasn’t progressed too much in this developmental issue?

Also some fans say that you can win with Fields. You can win better and more with a more talented passer, so keep that in mind

Some fans wanted to draft two studs who were non QB. Ideally two linemen perhaps one offensive one defensive. The brunt of free agent frenzy has passed and after the Bears additions I still would preder they draft a pass rushing DL if a good enough player is worth selection in their second first round slot

There is always a fair amount of players say third and later rounds who make the NFL rosters. I suggest due to the sheer volume of players in college football there is bound to be many who come to the NFL with not a lot of fanfare but turn out to be competent even a sprinkling of star players

Colton Dach with his tenth tally was the OT winning goal. The Icehogs will play again Sunday in a home contest against the same California AHL team

Guttman also got his tenth goal

Following Saturday night action the Art Ross three horse race looked like this;

McKinnon. 116
Kucherov. 114
McDavid. 106

Is McDavid tantalizing us?

Dobber, with some more good stuff. Top U-20 goal scorers in the NCAA, AHL-KHL and SHL (Sveden)-Liiga (FIN). .... Doubt the Hockey Gods tip the scales the Hawks' way again but if you wanna dream about Celibrini and Bedard as Hawks they do so a bit over at Dobber: https://dobberhockey.com/...goal-scorers-in-the-ncaa/

Also, Q was the fellow who wasn't fond of young Fosling, iirc.

I not so sure on this one.

I just remember the look he made over to one of his asisistants after Forsling put the puck hard, right on the net.

That Forsling wasn't the experienced battle torn on that currently understands the league.

Kids are drafted at 18 in the NHL whereas the NCAA football players are drafted at 20-21 yrs old for the most part. And, NHL drafts kids from all over the world playing at different levels, even pro. NCAA the kids are drafted from one league.

But, I'd bet more late rd picks make it in the NFL than the NHL.

Damian Cox wrote a piece for The Toronto Star and surely the topic reverberates throughout all of the hockey crazed provinces in Canada

Is it time for Sidney Crisby to move on, for his good as well as the good of the franchise

The Penguins compete level since the Guentzel trade has been woeful, inadequate, despicable. In fact Cox says moreover that " the team has :just given up" and ....."can't wait for the season to end."

Clearly the strategy to win by adding Karlsson to the aging cast of stars whose glory days have passed has proven to be catastrophic. Dubas realized too that paying Guentzell big money in a new contract just was not doable

Cox goes on to explain the affect upon the Penguins:
The team was sinking, not rising up to the challenge of squeezing into the playoffs. Now the Penguins have no other choice but to tear down, to rebuild and surely they will suffer painfully with a lot of loosing just like Montreal and Chicago have experienced,

I just cannot but wonder what owner and or what GM would embrace Crosby

Crosby has value still as his season has brought good numbers statistically at age 36
Cox suggests that Crosby can still play and would bring a winning pedigree to a new team

Cox's conclusion is to do yourself and the Penguins a solid by moving to another team

The haul may not be all that is hoped for.
Dubas has traded away too much futures and the Penguins have not had a top ten drafted player for a very very long time

Have to start the breakdown, indeed
We in Chicago know the feeling of hanging around too long Cortese of Stan Bowman..Whether Rocky wanted to squeeze more winning out of his stars and relayed that to Bowman, is something g we can only guess may have legs, may have been true.

But just what owner and or GM embraces Crosby?
Maybe the NYI with Roy pushing buttons would gamble their older base can profit by adding Crosby

The NYI aren't as old or declining like the Penguins
I am not suggesting that the NYI go after Crosby..Just a thought maybe they would
.
Because off the top of my head I don't see many suitors

Some shrewd GM's are.aware Crosby probably is going to be available but I am going to say they will not be stumbling over each other for Sid the older Kid even if he can still perform well

- jhawk59[/img]

There is no maybe on what team would take Crosby if he wanted to leave Pittsburgh - just about every team.

How about playing with his buddy Nathan McKinnon in Colorado.

Or his favourite boyhood team - Les Habs de Montreal.

Tocchet would move mountains to get him into a Canucks jersey.

What if he wanted to play with Bedard for a couple of years - can`t think of a better tutor!

Not a great return for the Bears but they were moving on from him and had to once they determined they were picking a QB at #1.

I don’t know about different value but you likely do get more players making teams from later rounds partially due to roster size. Teams need depth, special teamers, etc and the late rounds is where they get a lot of those players…or once in a blue moon, your 6th round pick at QB becomes the GOAT.

I also think it was calculated, good GMs who aren't sure how good the QB may become trade the player to the other conference.

Top, top players will get a 1st or 2nd round draft pick in return when traded. I think the meager return on Fields goes to show you that he isn't considered a top player.

Many trades of draft picks will occur around and during the NHL draft in late April as teams want to move up in position to obtain a certain player. There are draft pick value charts that show what various picks would cost to obtain in terms of other picks.

And unlike hockey, many of the players drafted are expected to make the team and contribute immediately, even guys selected in the 6th or 7th round.

P.S. Back to Fields, I think other teams realized that the Bears are drafting a QB with their 1st pick and they had to move Fields. Coupled with the fact that a few teams signed free agent QB's last week, the demand for QB's wasn't that great and the Bears GM Poles didn't have much leverage.

Michigan defeats Minnesota last night 2-1 and plays in the BIG10 championship game against Michigan State next weekend. Michigan will likely play in the NCAA tourney beginning the following week. Nazar's debut with the Hawks, if he signs an ELC, won't be until the 1st or 2nd week of April.
