I can hear people now, "he only apologized because someone told him to".
- WhiskeyMan

All I’ve ever heard is, nobody tells him what to do. Whatever the reason, baby steps.

Of course you wouldn't believe the medical experts who actually tested his corpse.

And I'm sure you don't believe Chris Simon's family. Somehow I doubt Chris was taking a bunch of steroids while playing hockey, or 10 years after his pro career ended.

The family strongly believes and witnessed firsthand, that Chris struggled immensely from CTE which unfortunately resulted in his death.

Pretty sure Torts will play Ginning over Zamula when Seeler comes back.
- mickel25

I don't think so, Zamula has overall played extremely well this year and has improved as the year has gone on. He may be traded in a package to get a 1C but I don't see him sitting anytime soon.

I now understand why Torts was short since he not only apologized but also explained why, he just didn't want to throw Sandstrom under the bus.

Do you think if they let other Doctors test his corpse some may disagree with what that Doctor said? So if one say's it, it is taken as gospel? Just like the covid vaccine was 100% safe right?

Never said anything about it not being CTE related. What I said was I do not think that was the only cause. A guy who abused steroids (talking about Benoît and you know this so why bring up Simon and Steroids') for years and god knows what else to think that didn't play any part is naïve.

As I said all these CTE hockey deaths, many of them abused drugs/alcohol If you don't think that played a part as well then good for you. Simon was a saint. He never did any anything. Plus his family will blame it on whatever they think can get them a payday.

If he can play the right side we could use him, but left side is packed. I would try to keep him and make him my 7th, similar to what they did with seeler. Offer him 2 yr contract at min salary and if he does well give him more next contract. He plays a fairly sound defensive game, something we can always use, plus he has good size.

That sounds like a decent plan from the team's perspective. But not sure Ginning would be on board with that. My understanding is that he has made it known that he'd rather return to Sweden than play in the AHL anymore. I'm not sure that being promoted to NHL 7th Dman would be enough to entice him to stay.
I asked the original question because I honestly didn't know if him leaving was a done deal or not. Sounds like it's not a 100% definite, which is good I guess

Soooooooo, you think his initial response was not throwing Sandstrom under the bus?

The science is proven. It's pretty easy to diagnose CTE once the deceased brain is examed. Drugs and alcohol are used to cope with CTE. CTE is 100% the driving force for a lot of these guys. Again CTE can be an issue for any person that takes repeated shots to the head.

Do you think that played any part in their deaths?

Either way the number is small compared to all who played the game and took repeated hits to the head across all sports.

Well if the player died of liver disease sure alcohol probably played a role. If the player commits suicide alcohol and drugs are almost always NOT the root cause.

Who cares if it is a small percentage? It's a known issue that is preventable.

Also, not everyone volunteers to have their brain examined after death. So the percentage is almost assuredly higher than you think.

I didn't take it that way, instead I took it as a coach that was pissed his team lost a game they should have won.

I give Torts credit for apologizing for his response about Sandstrom the other night.

From what I just read it seems like a classy and appropriate apology. That’s a good thing.

He didn't have to be short to avoid throwing him under the bus. He's only been a head coach for 20 years.

Absolutely speechless with that statement. Excluding MM who can they package him with to get a #1 center? What #1 center do you have in mind.

He has not played extremely well overall. He has had a solid rookie year. Which is fine at this point. He has had ups and downs. If he can be a very good 5/6 then that would be very good for the Flyers. I myself am not expecting anything more than that right now.

All I am saying is Zamula has played well this year and I foresee him being part of the defense on this team moving forward, unless he would be included in a trade to get a 1C. Zamula is a young defenseman with still more upside to develop, he has trade value. Obviously he could be part of a package that included other players and picks.

Why are you speechless? You just admitted has had a solid rookie season and I believe he has more upside to develop. He could easily be a piece in a package to get a player the Flyers target. Why is this at all controversial?

Yes, I agree, he could have just stated something generic and move on to the next question. I already posted there was no reason for him to be short in the post game.

Didn't answer the question. You have this pipe dream that the Flyers are going to able to trade for a 1C

Well if you cant see the difference between having a solid rookie year and being included for #1 center then not much more to say. He would be a fringe part of any trade for a major piece coming the Flyers way.

Do not see many teams beating down the Flyers door for Him. That is also not an knock on him. I do not see anything more than a bottom pair guy at this time. Maybe he can develop into something more. I will not depend on that. His hockey IQ isn't anything special.
