I do question Coots playing tonight. If he's healthy, sure, but also on the 4th line again, really?
The question is he really healthy enough to play or is this a situation with the coach really wanting a win tonight and playing a guy who shouldn't be playing.
I have no doubt he wants to play and told the coach he can play but the coach should be thinking beyond this season with Coots. - Flyers_01 He would most likely be first line. At least that's where he was when he was injured. I think Farabee may be the most likely one to be traded this off season. Something tells me that he simply doesn't like playing for Torts.

Funny with all the points % is irrelevant talk, it could very well be the determining factor after game 82 - funmaster18
% doesnt matter after 82 games. Its points first then the 1st tiebreaker is regulation wins |

It’s a good question. Why not shut him down when you’re just going to play him in a limited role anyway. If you were to say play him first line and he could handle it, then he can have an impact. The team has shown how terrible they are without him. I suspect coots is pushing himself as the leader of the team to try to spark a final streak with a view to them getting in |

Since the Flyers are unofficially out of the playoffs, I expect to see 3 wins to end the season to hurt any chance of getting a better spot in the draft...
Reasons being, but not limited to:
1) Players don't try to lose
2) That fancy moral victory will give them a magical boost next year
3) Culture of choking, but coming back strong when it doesn't matter |

I always get a kick out of point 2. We finished strong on a positive note and that's going to carry into next season. LOL

Well there’s no reason in losing with the kids to see what they have as opposed to playing the veterans who will also help contribute to a loss AND aren’t gonna be here next year. So smart. |

Did the kids not play? - ClaudeFather
Apparently letting the kids play means everyone in the lineup has to be 23 and under or maybe that means all players 28 and over must sit for some early/mid 20 guy that probably won't see the NHL much in the future?

Is there a team that has been scored on with the first shot of the game more than the Flyers? |

Ersson hasn’t made any saves of late but when we give up a chance lately it’s been a ten bell opportunity. Not helping the tenders at all. |

Oh well. Back when this was written, I had already prepared myself for a long season. I had hoped they would play the kids, and hopefully see some of them develop, especially the defense. I understood that it was for the best in the long run to get a high draft pick, and keep stocking those prospect cupboards. Maybe Cutter Gauthier would join the team towards the end to play a few games. We would see what kind of assets they would acquire by trading away players that didn't fit the long term timeline. I was fine with it, being bad.
But then they play over their heads for the majority of the season and KINDA do a bit of what I had hoped for above, while actually having a solid chance at the playoffs. Lose Hart, Lose Gauthier...
Now, watching them fall out of contention with the finish line in view.... this is worse. It just feels like the same old same old, not good enough for success, not bad enough to get elite talent in the draft without getting lucky.
Oh well. |
