Bill, what is the wisdom of having Ginning and Attard sitting in the pressbox when they could be helping the Phantoms?

Morning Bill. Few questions.

1. Do you see Rocky being retained to coach the PP next season? If not any idea who they may look at to bring in?

2. Do you see "lappy" being back as LHV head coach?

3. Does Rizzo sign with the flyers?

4. Do you see the flyers rolling witrh Sam/Ivan next season or will a vet goalie be brought in?

Surprising I thought I saw the flyers with a 7% chance to get in. This isn’t a wild scenario.

That 5 on 3 was edge of your seat stuff. They got a shot on goal

Torts threw away potential OT points all year with his stubborn OT lineups playing 2 defenseman in OT for months then starting OT with defensive forwards. Never understood the logic not like Flyers have snipers for the shootout .

he will never admit that failure in any way. wasnt the 2 d format last year? either way his lineups in OT were brutal.

he wont say 1 fn word about a PP that may be one of the worst in nhl history. Or at least last 25 years.

do not want to see them in the playoffs at all. then watch all 3 strut around like a peacock on a "successful "year

They have actually been better on shootouts. The problem is they have been losing in OT.

I don’t want to see it either but I think it’s likely. Don’t see the Flyers losing at home to the Caps and also don’t see the other bad teams that didn’t take advantage of the Flyers losing previously in the season all of the sudden string wins together.

As for Hilferty, he is of the same cloth as Dave Scott. Just different personalities and approaches to accomplishing same goal.

Oh Im sure they are thinking if we can just fix the PP we could be a contender right now.

I think Rocky will be back as forwards coach. He is good in that capacity and has a strong rapport with most of them. The Flyers might bring in a separate PP coach.

Hilferty and Dave Scott are very different. Hilferty is very boots on the ground, day in and day out, TV cameras or no cameras. Works circles around his predecessor. Dave Scott was a nice man, but an ineffectual CEO.

I think you're a bit misguided here. While I agree that some points were thrown away cause he used defensive forwards in OT you are mistaken about him playing two defensemen in OT. That was last year if my recollection is correct.

With just an average PP they are easily in a playoff spot, but that PP is atrocious. That 5 on 3 yesterday was an embarrassment to the sport of hockey. I swear the only guy moving was the puck carrier. I have NEVER seen a more stagnant PP in my life. Rocky CANNOT come back as the PP coach next year and that's final!

They don't even try set plays. There's no plan. Nothing. I have no clue how at the NHL level with the talent that they DO have, it could possibly look like this.

And Lycksell was scratched yesterday right? What business does Atkinson have being in the lineup over him? Joke

This will be over Monday as I feel a Red Wings win over Montreal.

They showed zero urgency on the 5 v 3. No movement. No nothing.

Their goals are the same. Get back in it asap.

Do you see them taking a step backward this offseason to acquire elite talent? Or will they extend TK to a max term high dollar contract?

I think they'd have been perfectly fine just getting in the playoffs let alone being a contender. It's all about the here and the now. Forget the future.

Danny should’ve called his agent while in Sweden and told him he’s got 1 hour to meet them or enjoy his 4 years in college
- Stayin alive

Why would he care?

He could stay in college, sign a 2-year ELC, burn off the first year right away, then be ready to cash in on his 2nd-contract at the age of 23.

If he had followed the Flyers' timeline he'd burn the first year of his contract at 20, then play two years under ELC, and he'd be going into his 2nd-contract at age 22.

Not much of a difference. Guarantee you he would have been happy to trade that single year difference to hand pick his destination. Meanwhile the Flyers would have been left with nothing but a compensatory 2nd-round pick.

He had leverage. That's why he got traded to a place he wanted to go.

1) your timeline is wrong. Cg wouldn’t have been able to play a nhl for 3 years to burn a year off elc if db made him rot. Obviously he’s ready now so boo hoo he had to play 2 years college. So he sign elc now saving 2 years college.

That’s 2 years of future earnings quicker. Assuming no matter what his future contracts will be what they are that’s 2 years of earnings he’d have lost out on.

2) the risk of injury is real. No top player that goes for a year in college or 2years wants to risk injury and all future earnings.

3) no agent is gonna allow a top player to risk earnings or injury. It would’ve ABSOLUTELY forced cg to meet no debate

This also speaks to the poor asset management. Again, where is the wisdom of sitting these guys when they could be helping the AHL team in a playoff push? There is no doubt Lycksell, Ginning, Attard will be with them IF they make the playoffs. But they have to get there first.

Its not like they are helping the Flyers.

I also wonder if they will send Fedotov and Brink down if the Phantoms are in and the Flyers are not since both are waivers exempt?

Because Tortorella keeps playing hunches Cam will step up. The will is there. But he looks cooked, sadly.

The Analytic Department must love that reasoning.
