That is true. That’s why I say “potential”. They still have to take the next step or two or three but it seems like the ability is there.

We all have the "potential" don't we? The players you named need more than a step or two

Ahh no. I don’t have the potential to even play in the NHL, let alone potentially be a 30-40 goal scorer. So no, we all don’t have the potential. ND doesn’t have the potential to be a 30-40 goal scorer. That is a gross twisting of the plain meaning of my original post. I stand by what I originally stated:

Foerester has shown he has the potential to be a 30-40 goal scorer in the future and Tippett does as well. Will they make it to that level? Time will tell. But a 20 goal season by a rookie is a great start. Close to 30 goals for Tippett is another good indication given his age and the fact that he (nor anyone else on the rest of the team) is lighting it up on the PP. a little improvement, a more stable center/line, a handful of PP goals, 40 goals is realistic.

Ducks sign Gauthier to an ELC with 1 game left in their season this burning off a year off his ELC. For Flyers woulda..coulda..shoulda. Only good news is he will play in West where Flyers will just see him once or twice a year.

30-40 is a huge swing. Especially in the NHL.

Other than having a really strong shot, we don't have enough of a sample size of Foerster's game yet to know if he can be a 40 goal scorer. To me, it seems as though you think because Tippett has scored close to 30 this year, that somehow means he has the potential to score 40. He needs more than a little improvement offensively to become a 40 goal player. There aren't that many consistent 40 goal scorers in the NHL. Off the top of my head, there is probably less than 10 in the entire league. I don't think you quite have the awareness of how big of a leap it is from 30 to 40 in this league.

the thing with tippett is, if the team adds the talent they need to compete, hell never be a 40 goal scorer. On this team he gets a lot of ice time and takes a lot of shots, if properly slotted as a player on a contender, that ice time and shot volume decreases. does he become more efficient? hes not a 40 goal guy

And a few more goals on the PP but he has the potential.
- mikeyo27

He needs to develop a one-timer for that to happen.

There's are very few 1v1 and rush opportunities on the PP. And those are his bread and butter right now.

Foerster played the left half wall in juniors but for some wonky nhl guru type bull poop no can’t do that.

Instead of bag-skating at camp Torts should just have the entire team one-time pucks for two weeks straight. Not a single one-time threat on the entire team. It's ridiculous.

40 goals is certainly realistic for Tippett. I mean, he can manufacture his own scoring chances off the rush with his speed. He just need to understand the game better, and find open spaces on the ice and learn how to kind of get lost in the mix. Foerster I look at as more of a 30 goal guy cause he doesn't have the skating ability that Tippett has although 40 for him certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility with that shot. Needs to get it off quicker and get better at one timing the puck.

I love how folks are anointing this guy as the next one without him ever skating an NHL shift. He'll probably be the next Ryan Potulny.

Tipp also needs to use his linemates more and stop floating at the top of the circles and get in front of the net with that size and get more garbage goals and tips.
