That's fair. I believe Michkov will be here by next summer at the latest. I expect Briere to continue to build the roster around Michkov before he gets here. So I agree with you, Briere will make somewhat significant changes to the roster this summer. I do believe the Zegras rumor that they are interested. No idea if Briere can get the deal over the line.

Whatever they do, I dont think it is a good idea for them to go in to the season with him on an expiring deal. Its just too big a distraction IMO.

They can come to an agreement in principle but a deal can't be announced until July 1. Free agency starting on July 1, really doesn't have any bearing with Konecny. He still has another year left on his current deal.

Giroux was one of the few players that was able to move from wing to center. I can’t think of really any others. Giroux also had a few years to do it as a 3rd line center behind Richards, Briere, and sometimes Carter, plus a defense with Pronger and Timonen. Michkov won’t have that luxury. But the previous regime was dead set on converting Gauthier from wing to center so it wouldn’t surprise me if they try Michkov there. MM has the IQ to do it and they really have nothing in the organization.

I agree, but if they’re not going to be getting top 5 picks and they don’t somehow pull a heist and get Draisaitl next summer there’s just no way they’re getting a 1C.

I really wish they would go all the way back to the 1/16 seeding and so on. Get different matchups instead of the SOS. They'd never do it though cause of all the travel involved.
