History says no however Briere himself I would say has a shot to change the whole tune of the team. I personally do like Size for forwards but we lack some true high caliber centers, You can find size on free agency for cheaper, but its hard to get top skill without overpaying Hopefully the scouting is working hard to find us a few gems, ,The next 2 drafts can make or break this rebuild

Last draft, taking Michkov gave me some hope. I feel like in years past Leonard would have been the pick. But then Bonk over Perrault was puzzling, though Bonk does look like a solid pick. I did like the Denver Barkey pick. Barkey probably isn’t going to be the next Brayden Point but it’s worth a shot. If people thought Point was going to be what he’s become he wouldn’t have fallen so far.

I see them reaching for a defenseman that they think has the tools because they drafted Michkov the year before.

I'm fine with a defenseman, but they need a center with skill more than ANYTHING. If we see the same results next year where they battle for the playoffs just to miss then who knows what the (frank) they are trying to do.

Do not disagree. Blueline or Eiserman feels like the path at #12.. As others have mentioned, next year's draft is deeper at center. Two 1st rd picks next season again. I can see another Drysdale for Gauthier trade in the future with the Flyers acquiring a center.

I do believe the Flyers will not have Frost-Poehling-Coots-Laughton at center next season, fwiw.

I understand what you are saying, but like I said before I believe the Flyers will and do draft as if next year doesn't exist.

They will say it with PR speak, but I believe they internally think the same way. Come September it's how are we going to make the playoffs. Sure it makes sense as a professional team, but the fact is they can not accept realistic limitations and fail because of it.

Flahr had Belpedio and Point rated equally and ended up swapping picks w/ TB to take Belpedio. That's who's running our draft table.

The break between series hurt Florida a bit in the cup series last year

I'm sure most teams prefer to just jump right to the next series as soon as possible.

Respect your opinion, and I will be there with you if Laughton is not dealt this summer. No excuse to keep a glue guy with the cap rising this summer. I think Briere tipped his hand with the Fedotov extension. Right now, the Flyers are firmly in the bottom 10 in goaltending. Now that could change, but if playoffs were vital, they would give themselves the chance to sign an established vet goalie to pair with Ersson. Heck, I think retaining Rocky Thompson is an admission they believe they are not close.

I can see why you think that....but I don't believe they keep the players/coaches for those reasons. I think they believe in them.

Fair enough, we'll see if my center prediction comes true. I agree with you, center depth is woefully inadequate right now.

I agree that teams like to jump right into the next series, but as the series progresses it tends to favor the more rested team.

It depends on the situation too. Did Boston or Florida get anyone banged up last series?

How bout Hage at 12? A center who’s been moving up the prospect list.

Have to give the Bruins credit, they have some saavy trades over the years to add to the team. Lindholm, Zacha, and Coyle come to mind. The Flyers will need to hit on similiar trades. Got one with Tippett.

I would love to see the Flyers land a Catton or Eiserman at #12.

I'm a little scared the Flyers somehow win the lottery (#2 or #3) and end up drafting a dud....not sure why I get that feeling.

- Glak18

It's ok, we have no history of doing that.

Detroit would be a nice fit for TK.

Detroit's 2024 1st (15th) and a prospect (maybe Shai Buium - LHD).

Only thing is Seider and Raymond will be getting new big contracts, would they want to extend TK?

I would think they would like Farabee because he’s cost controlled with the new contracts they have to sign as you mentioned. I wonder if he could get the 15th overall pick?

Hopefully he’s learned from his mistakes. A lot of times it comes down to whichever scout argues the best for a player.

I saw someone joke a month ago that the 4th rd pick traded for Johnson was worth it because his play helped them move up from 17th to 12th in the draft.

That would depend how much Detroit likes Farabee. He's still young (24) and in an upward progression and like you said cost controlled.

Depends how quick Detroit really wants to take the next step if they would be willing to part with #15 for him. I would hate to see Farabee go, but I feel that would trigger the Flyers to re-sign TK.

If you read the entire McKenzie article, pretty interesting that he feels prospects 6 thru 15 is so tight, anything could happen. He spoke with 10 scouts for his rankings. For example, Yakemchuk is listed @ 12, but 2 scouts had him in there top 5. Eiserman @ 13, 3 scouts had him listed firmly in the top 10. Sennecke @ 14 had 1 top 5 vote and 2 top 10 votes.

I keep thinking TK and Ottawa. They traded for DeBrincat but couldn’t get him signed. Signed Tarasenko last summer. They’ve been trying and failing to get a scoring winger for a while. Plus TK played in Ottawa for the 67’s. Maybe Giroux can convince him to sign long term.

Maybe, but the problem I have is I don't like what Ottawa would offer/give. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY they give up this years 1st (7th) and most likely the deal would involve either Chabot (injuries @ 8m) or Norris (injuries @ 7.95m)...no thanks. They really don't have anything else that would really help the team.
