Boston is on the downtrend. Overmatched versus Florida. Marchand is 35. They have Pastrnak,McAvoy,etc.
Not nearly as deep as they were in the past.

Yzerman's Red Wings were a juggernaut. He had a better supporting cast than McJesus has had so far. Granted, you're not wrong in the sense that those goalies wouldn't stand up too well today and many of them had a neutral-zone trap in front of them and no 2-line stretch passes.

As for Matthews.....Tampa will give you Cirelli, Cernak, a first, a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth, a sixth, a seventh, a bag of pucks, and future considerations for Matthews.

I really like Marner and think it would be a mistake to trade him. This morning I read this post on X and thought that it summed up my thinking on the entire debate that is currently raging.

That's WITH Marner!!! And Matthews...and Nylander!!! NONE of the core has been a super driver in the playoffs. Not like a McKinnon, McDavid, Draistl, Pasta, Crosby. Sure they can score plenty in the regular season. Sure, they are great players. But, they have had 6-7 years to figure out playoff scoring, and have improved ZERO in that respect. To roll out Marner, JT, Matthews, Nylander again and tweak around the edges is just ludicrous. Move SOMEBODY, shake up the core, re-vamp them, and get some grit and "Dirty Goal" guys to show Matthews the way!!!

The final I'd like to see right now : Edmonton versus Florida or New York. McJesus explodes and punks a RuSSian goalie and drags his nutsack across the collective face of the opposing roster. Jesus detonates a scoring bomb, the Oilers sweep Florida/Rangers and he wins the Conn Smythe. The Cup comes home to Canada, even if it's Edmonton.

Reading all the Bruins fans online whine about officiating is delicious like chocolate.

“Brad got punched by Bennett” (which is true and Bennett is a POS but one POS taking out another POS is funny AF to me).

“That goal was goalie interference”.

Without Swayman in god mode and the officials helping Boston be “the big bad Boston Bruins” they are being rocked by Florida.

I want this series to go 7 with them killing each other and then Florida to win and promptly get swept in 4 next round.

Oh and the game winning goal to be a 2 on 1 with some stick holding interference on the scoring team and after the goal is scored by Sam Bennett I want him to stand over the Bruins goalie and scream in his face.

I want to see Marchand and Tkachuk collide awkwardly at high speed and take each other out for the remainder of the playoffs. I'll put the video clip on repeat and feverishly manipulate my lazy organ to it until I reach a disappointing climax.

The Leafs best winger missed 3 games, Matthews hurt/ injured and missed 2 games and was a shell of himself in game 7 and Will got hurt in game 6.

All that being factored in and the fact the Leafs were the underdog going in they pushed Boston to the brink.

It sucked losing and hurts but for me taking a step back and factoring all that in I’m not nearly as angry as I have been in the past.

Don’t get me wrong I still strongly believe they need to move a core piece (and that it’s probably Marner) and make some changes but I like some of what I saw and the perfect storm of injuries sure didn’t help.

Side note - Jesus I would love to see “Big Zed” as Bieska has named him as a Leaf.

The game that really pissed me off was game 3. Game 4 was a total (frank)ing poopshow, obviously, and should never happen. But game 3 was a classic case of finding ways to lose. We win game 3 and it's a totally different series. This group just does not know how to seize an opportunity when it's presented on a (frank)ing platter.
