Well if yer going to go by those stats alone then you must really be pushing for Reilly to be traded because they win every game when he is missing from the lineup.

Going to be interesting on the coach. Of course how they fill out the bench staff will make a difference too. Hopefully no more from this years staff when all said and done.

Far as roster, we can all flog a dead horse of should they could they will they, but its going to come down to how the players with the nmc/ntc feel. IF they want a change then all 3 could go at this point or none. I just dont think it will sit well if they run it back with just a coaching change.

One of my big issues with this team has nothing to do with their performance on the ice but there reactions.

1) This one is why I feel Marner gets singled out... The narrative that everyone is out to get them "Maple Leafs' Marner on media criticism: 'We don't care what you guys say', AM also spews this once in a while but I think he says it a little better.

2) After a bad performance or playoff exit.. Not sure I have ever heard one of the core group simply say." We were not good enough" or "Our play was not acceptable".. Listen to some of the Winnipeg players after they lost". I am sure the players care but when you listen to the 2 teams.. You can tell that the exit bothered the Jets while the Leaf players give the impression that it just kinda sucks see you next year.


I cannot be sure that this is not a Leafs/Shanny directive but It would be nice to see some accountability taken..

Yes to either of those uses of the amount of one single salary from a core player on the Leafs who has not been a playoff performer when it matters.

Hello Cush, just another disappointing playoffs eh?

I even skipped a month or so of games around the 60 game mark this year…1st time in a decade or so…our d were pretty meh and I knew we weren’t going to far with them. 😞

Ya the games down the stretch once they clinched was really just to watch to see if Matthews hit 70. For me the game was background noise until playoffs.

Disappointing for sure but we can enjoy a nice summer and then it'll start to get cold and we can prepare to be hurt again Garnie don't worry. lol

Both good points and I know others have said it here but you want a team that hates to lose more than they love to win almost. The Leafs as they are currently constructed are just not that way.

I think some of the guys they have brought in over the years maybe had that mentality but they were the minority and as such they decided to assimilate vs try to change everyone or many more than 1 or 2 guys can have that much influence over.

JT as the captain might be part of the problem - he doesn't seem to hate to lose nearly enough. I used to say Matthews as captain but does he have that "hate to lose "mentality they need?

The other guys wearing "A"'s don't seem to (maybe Reilly?).

They need that attitude and it needs to be from all or almost all of them - starting top down and you can argue that comes from the coach or higher but for sure the guy's with letters on the front of their jerseys should be the ones setting the tone and creating the culture.

I don't see them moving the "C" and "A"s to other players but if they really want to change things and they bring in guys who can lead in the way the team wants to go maybe they should?

I mean what did any of AM, WN or MM do to really deserve wearing an "A" and what have they done to deserve to keep it?

Evolving hockey has his contract at 2x8.5M I believe, but it will be lower thats just based off his production he had a really good year.

with all the Marner stuff said, If I had a Choice, the First player to move imo is Tavares.
I just dont/didnt think that was even a possibility. If it is, great thats the 11 Mil to use on other players. Next is Rielly. Thats 18.5 cap space.

Moving Rielly would mean an absolute overhaul of the D, and not sure that can be done in 1 off season. but maybe
