“All of this was for null, though, as the Panthers exercised good discipline and didn’t take the bait. I think it should be mentioned here that Matthew Tkachuk has shown great growth and maturity this postseason. Normally he would fall victim to the majority of these antics, but he has shown great restraint thus far.
That restraint by him and his fellow teammates is what I think “broke” the B’s back last game.”
Panthers are focused on one goal, moving on to the next round. |

I hope FLA wins the series and honestly would prefer them winning the SC ahead of all but CAR and DAL. But that Bennett punch to Marchand should be suspended 100% of the time. It's something Tie Domi would do back decades ago. Completely reckless and why the league is not taken seriously by many. |

Like I said, Marchand came back in the second period and leveled Stenlund. I don't think he would be able to do this if he was concussed by Bennett's so-called sucker punch. What I saw the trainers looking at was Marchand's torso and I think he twisted his body around when he fell towards the boards. As far as the goalie interference, Charlie Coyle was already in the blue paint facing his own goalie having no idea where the puck was at. Bennett simply shoved him out of the way so he could shoot the puck. In reality, the Bruins are being outcoached and have no chemistry in their lines. PS Jon Cooper would say their goalie is wearing a skirt.

Common law adjudicates based on INTENT not OUTCOME. Outcome becomes an enhancer to the intent. It makes no sense base the punishment on outcome. By that logic, players should go around Matt Petgrave high kicking everyone that comes near them. Sure, it might end up with a player bleeding out on the ice, but 99+% of the time nothing bad will happen. |

Oh, yeah who was the aggressor? It was Marchand. What was his intent? Most of the time when you take a run at an oak tree, the oak tree wins. |

Bennett didn't put Marchand out of the game; punch, penalty, whatever. All the whining in the world is just that. Marchand played for 2 more periods after the contact with Bennett.
Marchand's head-hunting hit on Stenlund is what put him out of the game. Where was the penalty, review, fine, and suspension on that? Why no GM press conference to ask the NHL officials about that?
Time to implement the mercy rule in hockey. When one team is dominated offensively, defensively, PP, PK, goaltending, and coaching facets of the game and all that's left is whining and threats, it's time to end the embarrassment.
Go Panthers!

So, you know what Bennett’s intention was?
Or are you taking as fact what you assume his intent was? |

Anyone with a functioning brain can see Bennett's intention was to obscure the punch to Marchand's face with a body check. Bennett did an excellent job on it as well. But to suggest that is a remote hockey play or unintentional is obviously disingenuous. And I'm certain if it were the other way around, 100% on this board would be unhappy. I hate the Bruins and like Florida, but that is the truth of that play. It sets a poor precedent. |

Ehh…they just seem off. Missing that intensity.
Feels like a regular season game to me. |

So you think Bennett has no history of doing this? He did something similar to Knies last year. He knew what he was doing and got away with it and now will be more likely to repeat this. Colby Armstrong even said it was obvious the way Bennett was looking around at the punch to make sure no one saw. I don't fault Bennett for doing it. Smart move. But I fully understand the implications of allowing those type of plays. |

Yes, he isn’t someone you want to try and take liberties with, Marchand came in late trying to blow him up and provided all the power behind the punch. He came in late looking to send a message and ran into a bigger rat, let’s say. Should’ve pulled off when he saw he was leaving Bennett time to gets his hands up to try and defend himself. Bennett should’ve been punished for the contract to the head, but no one saw the damning view until two days later. I still won’t say he targeted the head. I think he just wildly threw a punch and it connected.
And Marchand stayed in the game for two more periods, only leaving after he laid a big hit on Stenlund and it looked like they butted heads.
If you want to argue from what a former player turned analyst says,
I’ll see your Colby Armstrong and raise you a Mark Messier.

There are injustices in life since the beginning of time. If you want a perfect world go watch Barbie.
