Bolland was a far better point producer I as a 17 - 19 year old than Nazar. It’s what the Hawks project for the prospects. But like you I see someone else in that role Savoie or Ludwinski, or the two in tandem. The other thing is whoever does fill that role has to buy in 100% like Bolland did. And if you think about it, it’s quite amazing that a guy like Bolland was willing to buy in when his junior numbers suggested he was a top end point producer and not a third line role player. Bolland not only took a huge hit in personal glory but in salary as well. How many guys would have bought into that role, considering the circumstances, the way Bolland did? Pretty special guy and a huge reason for the Blackhawk’s success. - paulr
Bolland was built like a tank. Nazar has the height but not the body yet.

He will play in the dub, with his team.
A bit of a difference when you let a first round defenseman linger in Junior and not get pro coaching, daily advice and supervision.
You want Cayden to ply his trade and keep getting bigger, stronger and faster. - wiz1901
He's a year away from college I take it? |

Per the attached, the last two drafts, out of 5 1st round picks, 5 2nd picks and 5 3rd round picks, KD has drafted only 2 defensemen - Korchinski and Rinzel in the 1st round in 2022.
I can see him drafting at least 3 D-men in the first 3 rounds this year. Maybe Jiricek at #18 (if Lev isn't chosen) or guys like Lukas Fischer or Charlie Elick with the 2nds. Remember these guys will be 3 to 4 years away and could represent the next "wave" of young defenders.

Both GM's should be fired. Every move you make has to be a grand slam winner. Who cares if it helped your team, if it also helped the other team. - LAHawk
Not sarcastically that's why you don't trade in your division and hopefully conference. |

What do you think of giving up a second round pick to improve two spots in the first and a few in the second? Good or bad move? - paulr

I just watched video of Demidov dangling and freezing people in their tracks, just incredible moves. Then I watched Lindstrom who can dangle and go through people. Both have great shots. I think Lindstrom is the better skater. Quite frankly I’m good either way, assuming they are both being considered. - paulr
He won't be going through many NHL players anytime soon. |

Fan have to remember picks and prospects are assets. Most fans of every team fall in love with the team's prospect , i am guilty, but a GM has to be able to identify which ones can make the team better whether in a trade or as part of the team. - Elbows15
Who the hell identified Reese Johnson as one of those guys? |

You do realize when you go around back reading and responding to an ongoing conversation you are taking everything out of context?
And Bolland was never built like a tank. At 6’ 185 he has a very similar build as Nazar at 5’10” 175.

At my age I forget where I left off and pick a spot. Forget the stats, Bolland was solid far from a boy-man. |

Bolland would've been a longer core piece a much more than .5 pt/game player if he was a tank.
He wasn't though, at least his body wasn't, in his mind he was. He was always injured and in the end, that is why he had to be let go.
One of those culture guys, who you couldn't afford to keep, but left a big hole when he was gone. |

Well that settles that. |

They traded Faber because they had a surplus of right handed defensemen. They traded from a position of strength for a position of weakness. What don't you understand? - GPHawksfan
I'm not sure but it looks like Clarke and Spence are the only 2 remaining? At least they got Doughty for another 3 years. It will be interesting to see how good Clarke is. If he's not the FO are going to look like fools. |

I am really curious to see who they draft with the 2nd OA pick. |

As a Lindstrom guy am fortunate to stumble across this wonderful resource of SHIFT by SHIFT footage of prospects. A rabbit hole for prospect geeks.. If I were trying to talk you outa Lindstrom this video would help. .......
Kid was not very engaged, not sure he won a puck battle, lotta watching/floating watching other guys do the work, lotta big turns with few stop and starts, as the centerman most times the first outa his own zone, lotta cherry picking.
Buium is a beauty. Kid Just. Makes. Plays. Silky smart kid. 18 yr old true freshman going against 21-22-23-25 yr old competition and simply makes plays in all 3 zones...... I'm starting to fall in his camp as the probable best #3 prospect.

In my opinion, Eric Duhatschek hasn't ever been a crazy rumor guy and he just pointed out that it might be in bothe Vegas' interest and the Blackhawks for a deal where they take TWO Vegas contracts to get Vegas room to keep Jonathan Marchessault and William Carrier by having the Blackhawks take William Karlsson rich deal and Chandler Stephenson.
The 'hawsk get two "great pros" for the locker room, both centre / forwards.
It doesn't fill the want list of a much younger forward, but I have heard much poorer imaginary deals.
Prospect shifts is all the shifts of one game.
Or in Caydens case TWO?
You watch Red Deer or Calgary? |

Re: Vegas - agreed, not the best trade idea but not bad either. Stephenson is a UFA, Daily Faceoff has his next contract being 5 years at $5.6 million AAV. If that’s the price then I’d pass.
I’d take Karlsson and #19 for #50 and Raddysh.

Even though Cayden has a much bigger height (and an longer inseam) than the smaller Demidov, I haven't seen Lindstom's legs opn like the St. Louis arch, like the Russian skates.
Who pays for the Russian speaking skating coach to spend a couple years trying to adjust his edging?
Does the team pay to improve the player, then the player might improve to a higher secomnd contract? |

I believe if you go this route, as a GM i make sure everything is in place to help this kid. I wonder if Blackhawks have someone working or checking in with Kantserov, i know if it were me i would.
