I am gonna guess that Zeev Buium can drop down, but not to #18 slot.
Anton Silayev is more likely to have teams thinking twice and passing.
The story of the Buium brothers (Shai & Zeev), sons of Israeli nationals migrating to San Diego never skating until they took a firld trip see their cousin play, and fell in love with the game.
After the early pronouncemnet that this draft was "first pair" defenseman heavy, i believe the critics have come back to Earth, realizing that despite the fact the big six defense prospects are all so different in skills and toolboxes; a Carter Yakemchuk has as much of a chance to impact a NHL roster as all of the rest.
FOUR of the big six, have very desirable size.
Both Parekh and Buium are going to make you decide just what their high impact on the offensive side, and will accept what you see as their current defensive high water mark, and accept it for the offense.
This is true whether they are finished growing at six foot or he actually grew some. I just don't see climbing up the board for Buium.
(Remeber eveyone grows about an inch when the NHL programs are printed.

I’ve read a report, which I can’t find now, that he’s sprouted to 6’2”. But like you said it doesn’t sound like he’s in the mix at number 2.

There will be some very good prospects available in the top 10. Drafting at #2 you're looking for a game-breaker and not just someone who is very good. There are lots of guys KD could settle on, but it sounds like Demidov is the next best game-breaker after Celebrini.

I think the odds are better Seth gets traded to Utah than Buium falling to 18. |

I have a feeling, if his health checkup is clean KD will select Lindstrom. |

Entirely possible. Lindstrom isn’t my first choice, but I’d be ok with him.
I think KD can draft size at 18 or 34. |

Like you I go with whoever they deem the best selection. Lindstrom checks allot of boxes, above average skater, highly skilled, great shot, size, mean but along with suspect health there are questions about his high end hockey IQ. |

He’s being compared to Eric Lindros. Take this for what it’s worth , last season players in the WHL said they most feared Connor Bedard, this season the consensus is Cayden Lindstrom.

Is Lindstrom more Kirby Dach or Alex Barkov? - vabeachbear
Wow
Neither
(It's starts off as a poor comparison when the league just said that Barkov is the most elite player defensively.)
There are far too mnay positives to not choose him, in that he skates fast and bumps are part of his game, but I just don't see enough hiccups to by pass all the scoutung that tells the hawks just hat he truly is.
Kirby was an advanced detail player in the middle zone and his end and worked down there.
His issues as advancing as a high end attacking player as a centre and face-off man were what helped his getting a new lease on life eslewhere.
I don't think any of us can say the Canadiens scouting system is not top flight and they were more than willing to work with him, and improve his game.
This kid like Barkov has jump.
He is relentless in prusuit on the attack and is also raw in the dot but has dominance to his play offensively.
I think the Habs pick up of Dach or the deli guy. Juraj Slafkovsky were intentional...that size and skill and jump of large men seem to work well IF the develop. |

For those watching/wondering how KD will handle the cap Laz has a piece at The Athletic talking about how well Nill and the Stars took the retool instead of a tear down rebuild route back in 2017... Nill himself says we changed drafting/scouting philosophy and drafted skill over size.
Read thru some comments and thought this dude made an interesting and important point about the Stars' successful retool:
"The key for the Stars is that they never killed their cap. If you look at Cap friendly, something is always expiring. Even the Benn and Seguin deals were offset in a way that allowed them to get Radulov, then Pavs, Suter, Duchene, etc. and the next time they need to extend somebody, another deal will have expired. Jim Nill's drafting is a huge story, his working of the salary cap is even better". |

Is Lindstrom more Kirby Dach or Alex Barkov? - vabeachbear
Dach was known as a plus skating big centerman that was a 200 ft player but never put up points. Kinda kid who barely put up 2 shots per game and IIRC wasn't too close to being a pt per game player in jrs. ....... He's developed into the same as an NHLer but even less offense.
Barkov was kinda of a can't miss blue chipper 2 way centerman with size and considerable skill but despite that his best attribute was/is his IQ. Two yrs playing pro in the top FIN league, 3 WJC's and every FIN international tournament as a younger kid (dual nationality RUS/FIN) he went 2nd after McKinnon in 2013. https://www.eliteprospect...r/50044/aleksander-barkov
The difference as 17/18 yr olds predraft between Lindstrom and those two players? For me simply said Lindstrom is an explosive quick twitch athlete that the other two aren't. All 3 big, all 3 can skate, all 3 are centerman, Dach didn't show offense but Barkov and Lindstrom did except Lindstrom is a quick twitch/explosive athlete and a better athlete than Barkov and Dach.
Barkov was the better prospect, in fact a dream prospect. Success as a pro at 17 and 18 yrs old, success in many many international showings, could skate, score and dish, played center, was big and showed a high IQ. A dream prospect........... Lindstrom is the better athlete, does that give him a higher ceiling?

Lindstrom has three flags to consider, he came out of nowhere this season, there are questions about his high end hockey smarts and his health (back problems).
Demidov plays against lower end competition, his skating is in question and of course the Russian factor. |

Fantastic hockey! Lotta hair on fire hungry hockey.......... Moose Jaw looks as good as I've seen anyone play London, who is an absolute train. ... D!ckinson is answering those who question his offense IMO. Nice IQ with a shot to take advantage of that and feet to get him there.
Parekh is falling down the list if his Memorial Cup is heavily weighted. Simply said he ain't making plays.

I've been watching a lot of video and have to say what he's got out there is really impressive. I imagine he will only get stronger and better at his skating which is already good. Very intriguing prospect if the back injury isn't chronic |

Man, the Stars really leaving Oettinger out to dry a lot in this start so far. These conference finals on both sides have some good hockey. |
