Panarin traded for Marner? 2 high dollar productive regular season players that disappear when playing heavy playoff teams.
Even with the goal has been absent this series. - LAHawk

I really only saw Panarin avoiding contact, but that's nothing new. I don't believe 1 Florida panther avoided contact in any of their playoff series. Panthers just are so responsible with the puck, it's what i recall with the LVGK last year. Whoever faces them is in for a long series. |

Whether it's Edmonton or Dallas, I think it's going to be a very short series.
Florida is playing like a machine right now. |

Igor is so fricking good
Schneider is still a work in progress, he was in over his head in this series. |

I don't know, the Oilers are a jekyll and Hyde team. Some games they are on the wrong side of the puck, then some games they play great defensively. I like that 29 and 97 finally play with a chip on their shoulders that really helps cause you have no passengers on the team. I think the series may go longer than you think. If the Oilers get past the Stars, will they get better at defending them as the series goes on? They've accomplished that in every series so far. |

Whoever the Hawks are targeting with their top pick has to have shown he’s willing to play when the chips are down. I don’t care if Demidov, Lindstrom, Buium, Parekh, or whoever can dominate in the regular season, is he able to not only show up in the playoffs but bring up his play to another level. They cannot wind up with a Marner, Matthews or Panarin type. |

Clearly there were some Rangers out there playing hurt. Maybe more than a few.
And the Panthers knew it and kept punishing them physically. No team in the league combines the forecheck, limiting space for opponents and a hit to hurt approach like Florida. |

To be fair Zibanejad was also entirely MIA for the Rangers in the Florida series. The Rangers could never afford both to be absent. |

What's the f'n fascination with picking Ruskies? With the exception of the great goaltenders they are producing lately, most of those boys go home May 1 or when the play starts getting rough and nasty - whatever comes first. So they can get going on the booze.
Name one Russian forward or defenceman doing anything among the 4 teams still playing? Where's $11.5M / yr Panarin been lately? Probably trying to stay as far away as possible from Sam Bennett would be my answer.
Draft Russians at your own risk - very few are interested in playing in June when it counts. - RickJ
Well to be fair, not many russians left in the four teams involved. |

And to be fair there were a lot of Rangers players who disapeared in ECF. Flordia was really good and made them look bad. There are always two sides of stories here. What did Kreider, Fox or Trouba do against Florida? Let´s not make this debate on nationalities. Or do you think Tampa would´ve won more without Kucherov? Or Pens without Malkin?

What if you take nationality out of it and look at it from more of a Cap perspective?
Yes it is a team sport but when you're accounting for about 15% of the team's cap space the expectation's going to be higher which is also fair...as in you might have to put the team on your back and carry them on occasion.

You’re good with arguably the team’s best player not close to being its best player during the playoffs? I expect the top players of a given team bringing their games up to another level not only during the playoffs but getting even better each round. Obviously I feel differently if a serious injury is involved. |

Lots of Americans and Canadians who are unable to bring the level of their games up. And size isn’t an issue either. Patrick Kane was able to lift his game in the playoffs. |

This isn’t the first year that Panarin’s post season play has been criticized either. |

Why do you think Mitchkov, who was ranked right with Bedard wasn’t selected until seven? Why are teams seemingly spooked in selecting Russian players early in the draft? Looks like Philly will get the last laugh if the rumour Mitchkov is coming next season. - paulr
Mitchkov was under contract for 3 more years, that might have had something to do with it. |

After that series with the Preds when he was a Hawk, most posters here were generally fine with the trade that brought Saad back which a number of us (me included) thought would help the Hawks in the playoffs which of course they never got back to.
In hindsight, after that series is when Stanbo should’ve started retooling and acquiring young talent and picks instead of trying to reunite the band.
Panarin was completely invisible that series and until he gets a team there and wins he’ll likely be viewed as a playoff underachiever. |

And to tie this to the draft, KD has to be sure whoever he drafts will be more than a regular season player and be able to lift his game even higher in the playoffs. |

How do you know which player will do that?
I mean Lindstrom medical stuff may all check out but what if this means he's injury prone. To me surgery to repair something is never a good thing. Or what if he's another Kakko. And that's just one example
There's a ton of pressure on this staff to get this right.
I sure hope we are one of the few scouting staffs in the league that know what they are doing.
This #2 pick is probably the most important decision this staff will make. |

I suspect you watch how the players perform when games get more meaningful and rougher. Look at Zayne Parekh, he was outstanding in the OHL regular season, in the OHL playoffs and Memorial Cup his game isn’t close to being as effective. Sam D!ckinson on the other hand has improved his play not only from the regular season but each game as the playoffs and Memorial cup has progressed. Not having watched many of the top 10 prospects I can’t comment on each one but KD and his crew will have a good idea.

So you think there's a chance it may be Demidov? i heard during the playoffs in his league he was averaging 2 points a game.
It would of just been easier to win the lotto |
