Bill,
Appreciate your work in Dog Days of summer.
It brings tears to my eyes just thinking the joy for these Children receiving their bikes.
Then to continue to read "Not covered by Insurance" my tears turned to vomit! Thinking about fat cat CEOs enjoying the fruits of their denying a child a bike for PROFITS!!

I'm really torn who I want to win...
Would love to see Bob win the cup, would absolutely love it.
I would love to see McDavid break the playoff scoring record too, but it would HAVE to go 7 games.
McDavid deserves a cup IMO, but I think Edmonton has enough of them already, but does Florida (the state) deserve another one too? If Edmonton does lose then at least that will shut up the entitled Canadian base and it almost guarantees Leon will be on the move. I also don't think Florida will have many more shots at a cup in the near future either.
I just want a cup to go Game 7 OT and who ever wins then I am happy. |

I really have no idea what the moves for the Flyers will be, but if they are aggressive I would hope that it’s for younger players that fit into the timeline. |

Well maybe Florida will win the cup, re-sign most of their UFA's and price out on Lundell...Flyers should jump ALL over that.

The Flyers timeline is predicated on a special anniversary, they either want to win the cup on their 50th or 100th anniversary since their last cup.

Vancouver (1970) 54 years
Buffalo (1970) 54 years
Winnipeg/Arizona/Utah (1979) 45 years

A team like the Flyers really shouldn't be on that list: large US market, favorable exchange rates, stable ownership, unlimited budget, easy travel, new-ish facilities and an established brand heritage.
Every other team has some kind of built-in excuse. |

Agreed, that list shows only one franchise that is more pathetic than the Flyers and that's Toronto. Not good company to be with.

Toronto could at least use the excuse that they had the old Campbell/Western conf travel sked and players don't always want to live under that microscope.
But otherwise yeah... they've had a ton of advantages that they've squandered too.

It's great that the Flyers have always been loyal to ex players, but they should use them for charity events and other promotions, not sign them as coaches. Lappy was a warrior on the ice, but I was never happy with him coaching the AHL kids. What's next, signing Denis Gauthier as a coach to teach our players how to make a big hit without getting out of position? SMDH |

Nothing but respect for McD, but I could never pull for a team that tanked year in and year out. Zero respect for the franchise. Of course I am here in SFL, so Panthers after Philly

So your position lines up with the Flyers philosophy...build a good, but not great team that can make the playoffs and hope to go on a magic run?
Do you have the same lack of respect for Colorado? Their previous cups were 100% on the failure of the Quebec franchise. Plus they did have a lot of bad years to get the players to win a couple years ago too.
I understand how bad it looks for a team like Edmonton to get that many high picks, but to make it worse first overall selections, but isn't that really on the league and not Edmonton?
Edit:
Also if the Flyers won the next 2 or 3 1OA picks in the draft, I'm telling EVERYONE to eat poop and I don't care what they respect or don't. (frank) the Flyers, I deserve to watch a superstar for once. |

My feeling is if we hear about a potential trade before it happens, it is not real. That is what I have observed so far in the Briere/Jones era, they keep things pretty tight until it happens. I think the Flyers will pick at 12 and maybe trade up from 32 if there is a player there that they really want, and most likely will pick a center and a defenseman in the first round. |
