Our last few captains were all basically of the same mold. Billed as “leading by example” types. Not overly skilled. Not outspoken. This is why we need trocheck’s annoying ass as our leader. He’s perfect

That's not really news. Pretty standard operating procedure for organizations to request no-trade lists from players who have them when the NHL calendar resets in the summer.

The same was said with Callahan….

People have a weird obsession with him for good or bad. Should he be option 1 for RW, no. Is he the worst option at the right term and price, no. I would prefer another route but will see what they do

I see the reasoning for wanting him, as well as the reasoning why some want to pass.

The guy has the pedigree. He can put the puck in the net. And it's ideal for short term because we likely cant get anyone of his ilk for the price and term we want to pay. Igor & Laf coming due soon plays a large factor in who we can acquire without any other major moves. Obviously if Trouba is traded, that opens up our options a bit

The guy is also 35+, oft injured and likely not going to be a world beater for us. We need someone to drive play, and Kane really isn't that guy anymore. Couple that with his desire for a 3+ year contract, and I see why people are less than thrilled

Are there better options? Absolutely.
Are there worse options? Absolutely.

one of the problems for me with Kane is that if he's a Ranger I know he will be a mainstay on PP1, he has to be, so that likely forces Lafreniere to stay on PP2 most of the time

if anything Kane is just another roadblock in front of Lafreniere to get on PP1


I still think they try that Panarin-Kane rekindle their old magic thing when it comes to PP
