I hope KD isn't interested. I would rather draft at 18 or use it in a trade for a player like McGroarty. - DarthKane
I agree. Jut passing along some information. |

Big JR fan growing up. Best player by far in NHL 94 and 96 on Genesis.
You could tell he got hit in the head a few too many times based on some commentary and what not but the dude had personality which rubbed some people the wrong way and made other lifetime fans.
I prefer the personality, I think the game needs it to grow.
Him saying he wouldn't say no to sharp was priceless. |

I'm ok with the Hawks trading down to 5 but as I thought from the get go passing on Levshunov, a big RS D would be near impossible for KD, or any GM really. The thought of a possible #1 Dman who has size, skill and skating along with a bit of a streak in him who projects to eat 25 minutes, the toughest matchups and 60ish pt skill is a dream.
And you got Wifi's brother on my watch list and indeed he is a blood and guts kinda player. Those kinds always have a place on my squad.
KD has made a splash in both drafts, or tried last yr to move up for Moore, and if he doesn't this time it will be the first time. I do expect Lev to be the pick but KD has shown he ain't scared. - Mr Ricochet
KD already moved up from 20 to 18, but I expect he'll try to move up again. I think it's more likely that he'll use #18 or trade it away for a young forward.

Hawks reportedly interested in Chycrun. Ottawa asking for a 1st and a 2nd/prospect in return. Chycrun is injury prone and only a year left on his contract. Why would KD be interested even if he's extended. I read he can play the right side. Is Jones being moved and will Chycrun take his place on the 1st pair and PP QB? - boilermaker100
Jones for Chycrun swap lol.

Supposedly Tampa is looking to move Cernak to clear room for Stamkos. With a sweetner, I hope the Hawks would be interested. |

Between Jones, Vlasic, and Cermak we’d have the tallest D in history. If Tampa had any sweeteners left I’d be all over it, but they’ve traded every draft pick from now until 2034. |

Rumor reporting on this makes it sound like they are looking for draft capital in any move and not looking to dump salary +attached asset.

He does check a lot of boxes. RD, 27 years old, signed for 7 more years at 5.2M.
He should have several good years left in him. Problem is he has a full NTC. I can't see him waiving to a non-contender after competing for Cups all these years in TB.
Edit - I also read the NTC doesn't kick in until July 1. |

If Tampa is looking to create cap space I'll take Hagel for a 2026 2nd round pick.

Cheers to JR! Glad he’s finally in and well deserved. Agree with LA in that while he may not be the best Hawk ever, I think he’s in the team picture.
That was a solid group he played on that couldn’t quite seal the deal but definitely an entertaining time in Hawk hockey.
Disagree with Zach in that he was part of the Dark Days and I would suggest his trade was the beginning of them.
What a poopty time that was in Chicago sports for anyone but Bulls fans and the legion of bandwagon Bull fans.
You had $Bill who basically let JR walk over a couple hundred K a year and on the Northside Larry Himes basically replicated the same playbook with Greg Maddux.
Great moves by the Chicago brass at the time.

Agreed. Trading JR in '96, Belfour in '97 then Chelios in '99 decimated the franchise and they never recovered until Kane and Toews were drafted.

I remember the game where JR absolutely blasted his best friend, Tony Amonte. He caught a lot of crap for that but it goes to show there are no friends on the ice. |

Yeah the Roenick/Chelios/Belfour days were my childhood introduction to the Blackhawks. I was much more obsessed with the dynasty Bulls, but the Hawks were still very good.
What’s crazy is that the ‘dark days’ of the Blackhawks were arguably 8-10 years. This Blackhawks team hasn’t been competitive since 2017, so we’re at 7 years of irrelevance.
Hopefully we get some green shoots of growth this year, guys who show up as difference makers like Vlasic. I think Nazar and Korchinski are the odds on favorites, but ya never know. |

Rangers want to move up in the first round. They are rumored to be offering their 30th pick and Kakko. - boilermaker100
Kakko, Schneider, and 30th for #18 and Phillips, who says no? Schneider can play RD on bottom pair with one of Keiser, EDM, or Allan.
Two days to go. |

How many phones does KFC have? I would think he has a few if he's fielding calls from Ottawa (Chycrun), Rangers (Kakko), Tampa Bay (Cernak), Winnipeg (McGroatry), Montreal (#5 pick +) plus the agents for Teuvo, Debrusk, Carrier, etc. |

So they take McDonagh back in trade recently and now want to dump Cernak to make cap room for Stamkos? Strange calculator work by the Tampa GM don't you think?
Cernak is a nice tough RH Dman - I'm all in if its a deal where the Hawks don't give up much. Maybe a couple of future mid round picks, something like that, |

JR's wife was in town that night and Tony Amonte with wife & JR with wife were supposed to go out together after the game. In the hall outside the locker rooms after the game JR's wife was livid with him. As a result of that incident those two guys were nowhere near as close as they were before that. I'm not sure if they ever got close again. If it wasn't for hockey JR would probably be driving a garbage truck.
