Calgary needs a goalie, Jarry was born in western Canada (if that matters), a hockey trade for Sharangovich would be fine by me... |

What exactly is the issue with Graves. Injury or play? He just not very good? Seems like that big body RD (wait he's LD sorry) you need. Pretty decent deal. |

Calgary doesnt need a goalie, they are rolling with the two guys they have. Think it boils down to Toronto, Detroit & Buffalo who really need goalies. Im sure there are others but those are the main 3. |

Honestly? Idk if he tried too hard, or he just didn't fit our playing style. He didn't play the best last season. I also think it had a lot to do with fans expecting a lot more from him. I think he will either be traded to a team who may fit his playing style a bit better, or maybe he puts it together in his second year. He played a lot softer overall then his big body would lead you to believe

With all the mumblings of Dubas looking for additions to the team via trade, do you think he looking into Zegras, Gaudreau, Huberdeau, Kuzmenko, or Buchnevich for that top LW spot (all players rumored in various levels to be available via trade)?
I mean Johnny Hockey with cap retention and Laine would definitely make the top 2 lines more interesting. Then again Huberdeau at 50% retained with Crosby and Rust would also be interesting. |

Unless Washington has an ace up their sleeve they also need another goalie after trading their starter.
Also, I think Buffalo is more desperate for progress so I can see them making a move for a starter

Graves and Jarry for Huberdeau (with small retention)
Smith for Capspace
Use Capspace on a guy like Talbot or whatever |

Play. He’s big but his game is more offensive than defensive and is a particularly bad fit with either Letang or Karlsson because of it. He might be a 2nd pairing d man somewhere but not here |

Both Detroit and Buffalo are interesting places. Buffalo has a lot of young LHD which maybe if Dubas is looking for a hockey trade that is where he could look.
Or maybe he goes to Detroit and he sends Jarry and Graves for a decreased return. |

I never even consider Washington because of the state of the rivalry there, but good point. I agree with you on Buffalo also, I had proposed some kind of deal centered around Jarry for Samuelsson but that would probably need to be dependent on moving Graves or POJ. |

Out of your list, maybe Gaudreau is a deal that Dubas would do. I don't think he is going to take that risk on Huberdeau (though there could be a deal that makes sense). I cant stand Zegras and I don't think Dubas will go for him but he does fit the get younger and more offensive talent line that he wants to fill. Buch would be a great add but I think given we traded away Jake to maximize assets, I can't imagine we pay a bunch out for him as a rental.
I think with this group of players, unless you are able to shed Graves in a Gaudreau trade, we might just end up better off re-signing Guentzel. |

Detroit just paid a 2nd to clear Wallman off the books, who is probably a better player with a better contract. Think they are clearing space for Ghost on LD or Skeji. There is a 0% chance they are taking Graves in any deal. |

I think if Huberdeau goes anywhere its with decent retention. If they buy him out, he is going to cost them 7.9million against the cap for the first 2 years then 10million. I think them retaining 5million (and saving 5 million) would be possible. He has been pretty bad for Calgary and could possibly be one of the worst contracts in the league currently. I think more would be coming back to Pens in the first deal.
I'm hoping for Smith to be traded. His cap space is going to be huge for the team. Also I would be happy to bring in someone like Talbot for a year or 2.

I agree with this take Mac. I keep raising an eyebrow with Zegras because of the excitement factor with him next to Sidney and the marketing they could do. Plus it would sell tickets which is the end goal (besides making the playoffs/Cup).

Flyers, wings, hawks, kraken, sharks, caps, leafs, sabres, avs, canadiens, Utah all could be options with varying interest in Jarry just off the top of my head. |

So we should focus on realistic ideas like trading for the fourth overall pick so we can draft Iginla. |

I see it as Jarry for Huberdeau as a "useful player for useful player" swap and Graves as a straight up cap dump.
If we get 3 to 4 years out of Huberdeau (I think he'd be great with Sid) we can retain on him when it's rebuild time, or just let him play it out here and eat up the cap space
Huberdeau at 8.5 if we're moving out Graves is a good deal to me

Buffalo has Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen GP 54 GAA 2.57 SV% .910 SO 5 W-L-T 27-22-4. they have no need for Jarry.

If Montreal is interested, maybe a deal around Jarry and Matheson? |

What about the Jarry to the Kings? Do you think they really plan on going with Kuemper? |

Detroit is not taking on Graves. Already have 4 LD on the roster. |

I think they really like MM. He's basically their #1 D and PP QB. |

That would be cool but I feel like they really like Matheson there and I think we would have to take Montembleault back.
I really like Mailloux and they have a lot of young defencemen. I'd totally do Jarry for Mont & Mailloux. Mailloux has all of the tools to play this year and eventually take the torch from Letang.
I think Graves for Anderson as a change of scenery play could make sense depending on what MTL does with their D. I'd love to see if Anderson can get his game back on Malkins wing. |
