I would offer Desharnais 3 x 1.25. He is 28 6'7" 220+ See if he can develop a bit more would be worth the minimal risk. - carsonagenic

Jake Debrusk's resume looks earliy similar to JT Miller's when he was acquired by the #Canucks
Similar age, similar production.
Just sayin'. Maybe lightning strikes twice???

Solid work having to change gears from the top fish they lost out on. Maybe itâs for the better less risk more options for reward.
Though there seems to be a theme of who came in to replace who was out. No one replaced Lindy or Z though. They just shifted make up with Debrusk as the power forward they need to play in top six.
Now itâs possible they just go with Dak and Gards to play with Petey. Put Debrusk with Miller and Boeser. Suter goes to 3rd with Hogs and one of the new forwards. Bluegs on 4th Pods and one of new forwards. My guess for now. Lots of time until camp for changes. - Quinn's Quest
We moved out:
Milky, Zadorov, Lindy, Lafferty, Cole = whos combined total output was 37 goals, 55 assists over 315 games and they're new combined contracts equalled 21mil per year over 18 years of combined term.
*It also cost us a 27' 2nd & 5th(Laff)/Milky), Kuzy, 1st, 4th, Bruz, Jermo (Lindy) and 5th/3rd (Z)
Brought in:
Sherwood, DeBrusk, Heinen, Forbort to replace = 46 goals, 61 assist over 257 games at 12mil per year with 11.45mil per year (incl.Milky retent.) with 12 years total of combined term.
*Got back a 4th
While I like the moves and see the potential value of what they did today. There's WAY TOO many picks going out the door and not being recovered. I hate it. Our MGMT have to stop doing this ASAP.

Just saw Roy update. Too bad. Canucks did offer Lindy 7x7 it was reported and he signed to Boston for close to that. Youâll probably see same offer for Z was close too.
Canucks just not attracting UFAâs seems to be the issue more than them being budget conscious. Donât know whatâs up with that. - Quinn's Quest
Hyperbole.

Iâd hope RT has a long look at Debrusk with JTM and Boeser.
Garland matches with Petey better and Dak can earn his new contract making room and cashing in off their talent.

AHL backup? or creating a pointless log jam with a guy who's nothing special.
Silovs is a no-brainer backup, he's clearly ready, deserves it 100%.

Pretty good argument to be made for Silovs to get lots of playing time with the baby Nucks this year and get called up to cover injuries.
Otherwise heâs riding the pine as a back up for 3/4 of the year. |

I really like most things this new MGMT group has done. But they seem oblivious to the other crucial part of this business i- which is weaponizing the cap, taking on the odd LTIR contract from teams, keeping some flexibility open to snag a pick or two during the season from desperate teams - reagrdless of where we are in the standings.
If they wanna improve the team mid-season by trading - it absolutely should NOT involve picks going out. Rutherford better wake the fawk up, otherwise we'll end up like Pitts with 10 years of bare cupboards - difference is - they got cups to show for it.
We havent gone into a draft in 5 years with the min. 7 picks. Shameful/Ridiculous.
Carolinas window has been open and they've been a playoff team the last 6 years - in the previous 6 drafts, they've consistently had between 7-13 picks - THATS THE GOAL
They have a boatload of trade capital. |

Yeah in no scenario should Demko being starting 60+ games ever again. Logically it should be a 50/30 split.
BUT the Canucks have to make a tough decision in the next year - are they gonna extend their frequently injured/veniza level goalie and dish out a monster contract? (ala Hellybuck?) - I hope not.
Or start dividing up the workload properly and give Silovs the opportunity he deserves. I dont see any reason for him to go back to AHL - he's played nearly 100 games, I think his time there is over.
I also don't think trading him NOW is the right move. But one of them has to go at some point - maximizing their return is imparative.

Yup - love Demko but he doesnt have a great trackrecord already, physically and unfortunately, mentally.
When he's dialled in tho - lookout, he's the kinda guy that can absolutely steal you a playoff series or two.
Not gonna lie - now that the dust has settled - I wish the Canucks wouldve went for Duclair at 3.5X4 instead of the Sherwood/Heinen combo. I think DeBrusk/Duclair would have been a better bet in terms of pluggin the 2 top 6 gaps. Even tho the $$/term is a little more. |

Picking up dead weight for an extra 4th is not what competitive teams do. Maybe a bubble or rebuilding team does it.
Anyway Canucks have no trade capital but picks and a few prospects. Not a good way to add now for them as they have so few.
So yeah UFA and spending is what they have to do to stay competitive. While waiting on developing draft picks.

Itâs absolutely what good teams do - Vegas, Carolina, Colorado, Rangers, Tampa have all done it recently. You take advantage of every aspect of the game, business wise they may seem small - but it all adds up.

Seriously man enough with the picks. No one cares. They have a short window and every pick should be on the table to upgrade.
