Ty Yorkie
Plenty of good prospects dropped in the draft. |
|
|

Good summation NYN.
We’ll have to wait for free agency now to see where the rest of the chips fall.
The good thing is Canucks have cap space to compete and it’s a good time to spend with team competing. |

Again, if Guentzel isn't an option, then maybe trying to use that money to sign Stamkos is an option. He might be older and slow, but he'll make a serviceable 2C/1W and allow Petey to either play wing or else have someone that can actually score on his wing |

Point is you can't keep trading high draft picks. |

Yep. Starting to question this MNGT group a bit. Not retaining either Lindholm and especially Big Z is a large miss IMO. Mikheyev, Lafferty etc...
Bringing Myers back is a large gaffe IMO. But with Big Z leaving I kind of get that one. But now we are faced with another gaping hole on D.
Blueger back is excellent however. Since Kuzmenko left our PP has been atrocious and needs to be addressed. Pettersson either needs a winger or just needs to play wing lol. But I'm totally OK with less Russians
Bottom line is this club needs a ton of work due to some managerial errors of recent. Gonna be an interesting summer. |

Z wants 6 mill. I don't think that's a management mistake to not give that to him. That's too much. 5 is too much but I could live with it 6 is no bueno |

Agreed for the most part but it would have been nice to retain one or the other Zadorov or Lindholm. But yes you are correct for the most part we knew Big Z was going for salary and didn't want to overpay. |

Yeah it’s getting frustrating - I don’t know about you but I envy the Carolina model - they try to retain and even add high picks no matter where they are in the standings. |

Absolutely not - those are short term ideas. MGMT should do their diligence/homework and locate 4-6 options/players in UFA that could fit with Miller/Boeser/Petey/Hogs in a top 6 role

Zadorov was drafted 11 years ago, after July 1st he'll be joining his 6th team. He had 5 years in Colorado then lot's of stops since. I like him and can't blame him for going for a big payday. Daniel Milstein can't be happy either with Kuzmenko and Mikheyev getting dumped by VAN. Oh well, move on.

If this is true, I get Allvin's position...

According to Dreger, came in as high as $5M AAV in their latest offer to Zadorov but Z thinks he can get more in the open market. Mentions 10 teams being interested in him, including the Leafs. |

Yeah on this miss out part there is no other stars there. So maybe go for a Sprong type who can score and cost at half the AAV.
Then again with all that cap space they could go the trade route for a RFA from a team that might be squeezed? |

Clearly someone is gonna overpay him. Would love him on the Canucks but someone is gonna look at his playoff performance and give him 6.5+ a year |

I think in order to “replace” the role/production of not resigning Lindy and Big Z or missing out on Jake G - it’ll have to be by committee - which isn’t a bad idea and gives more cap flexibility - making it all fit under the 14 mil is gonna be tough but doable.
Forwards - Terravainen, Mantha (my choice) olefson (needs a chance of scenery) Sprong, Monahan, Martinook, Stevenson (2nd choice), McLeod
Defense - Pesce and Roy are probably gonna be too $$ but Hakanpaa (my choice) , Forbort, Gustavson, Edmundson, Walker, Grizlyk would fit the mold/budget. |
