Zib or Trocheck? Is he even number 1 on your own team? Haha
- TPC

Last year, Trocheck was better but before that.

I mean Zib was a no show vs the devils and got dominated vs the lightning too. If your basis is strictly regular season then fine. But he has struggled the most going up against other top centers in the playoffs. That’s all I really care about at this point. He’s paid to be a top 10 center. But keeps getting outplayed in the playoffs.

Cap hit vs cap hit for what they bring, I’m taking Trocheck if I’m building a team from scratch.

I think your critique is harsh.I,ll let someone else stick up for him.

And Btw - Trocheck was a disaster in 2022-2023 and is now my favorite Ranger.

Scary that at age 31 people think he is done. Ridiculous
- Greschnergy#4

I dont think hes done, I just dont think hes a #1 center. Matter of fact, I honestly dont know why we call that line the 1st line.

It’s ok to disagree lol. He’s a good player. Just don’t think he is that top line center we paid for

Here we are again, putting the weight of the world on a 20 year old that hasnt played a single minute in the NHL expecting him to be the missing piece here.

If you want to trade for him, go for it, Im all for it. But to throw him out there right out the gate as 1RW, its deja vu for me, and a critical mistake. Play him in the AHL, if he forces your hand, than so be it, great.

and his position at Michigan was LW.......

Its not important on this team - both the 1st and 2nd lines were roughly playing the same amount of minutes.

What I see is a. regular season success and b. all in past tense.

Its ok to admit that he is not a playoff performer.

lol you’re in the wrong place defending Zib. I’m with you tho.

63 pts in 74 playoff games isn’t that terrible 🤷🏻‍♂️

Draisitl getting zero goals vs Florida takes zib off the hook a little bit imo. Florida is good at covering centers. McDavid doesn’t count because no one can cover him consistently

I think the totals can be skewed a bit. He doesn’t seem to score those goals/pts in big games/when it matters. When we win 5-2 it seems he has 3-4 pts but then in the tight games it seems he isn’t noticeable.

Small example, but like Kane in the playoffs for us last year. 6 pts in 7 games, seems pretty good. But then u look, no pts in the last 3 games (we lost 2 of the 3). His only goal (if I remember correctly) was when we were up 3-1 or 4-1 already in the 3rd. Kind of a “stat” goal and not really an important one.

And for the record, I’m not trying to start the whole Kane debate again, just using that small sample to explain the type of points I feel Zib, for the most part, gets in the playoffs.

Crunch time or tight games and it seems he’s not even out there.

I think certain guys get singled out here and certain guys are teflon to criticism. Zib might be the most singled out out of everyone

We might not even sniff a wild card without Zibanejad. Nor do we get past the canes

Kakko and Kravtsov had a lot to do with that tho. Meaning guys being traded and or not re-signed. Ie- Vatrano. For all things Drury gets heat for, that might be the worst decision of all. He made a steal of trade to get him and let’s him walk for peanuts essentially
