Trouba definitely sucked. He/They said he was healthy. But, I think that despite not being in pain or structurally hampered, he was certainly still affected by the ankle. Can't imagine him being so far off his game otherwise.

I don’t necessarily disagree. I just think a healthy fox alone still may not have been enough. Mika’s line was ass. Trouba sucked but I don’t think enough by himself to swing anything
- picklerick

Fox’s elusiveness is what they missed because he can evade forecheckers and that’s when the opponent can get in trouble. That would’ve created a lot more offense and chances for the zibs and Panarins

The dire straits mentality in general about the state of the team is where I lose touch with people. We’re not far off and I do think even without many changes we can still win it all. Even with Trouba and Kakko lol

I don’t think we’re far off. Troubas $8m being freed up would’ve gone a loooooooong way to getting us there though

Maybe it can still happen. There ain’t a snowballs chance in hell he plays the final two years here tho. May have to suck it up one more year with him, and this year isn’t necessarily an absolute must it happens (cap wise). Because I’m not sure they’d get anyone better than he is (regardless of his salary)

I have no idea who this guy is. His pinned tweet is him announcing Panarin signing with us. He keeps saying NYR talking to ANA about zegras and vatrano. He’s got all kinds of crazy rumors about a lot of teams. He’s either mentally ill or in the know

I think he’s mentally ill fwiw

I never said were far off, but as mentioned, getting Trouba's cap hit off the books would be incredibly beneficial. However, getting Smith might put the kibosh on anything significant for the forward group. The one area people disagree with me on is Chytil because I feel hes a player we should move on from and a position we need a replacement at.

Kakko and Kravtsov had a lot to do with that tho. Meaning guys being traded and or not re-signed. Ie- Vatrano. For all things Drury gets heat for, that might be the worst decision of all. He made a steal of trade to get him and let’s him walk for peanuts essentially
- Slimtj100

Goes back to Drury though. Traded Buch for peanuts bc he thought he had his replacement in Krav without ever actually knowing. Then instead of giving Krav too 6 minutes to succeed, the organization decides to scratch him and put him in the bottom 6, running his value all the way down to a 7th round pick.

I’m not sure there’s another team in the league that’s failed to develop a 7th 9th and 2nd overall pick within a 3 year span in the history of the NHL.

This has to be the nost embarrassing play of his career. .. and he had more than a few BUT if you retain $2m - i rather keep him and no more buyouts (wire hangers) ever!

We gambled on Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin being the players to lead us to a cup, and now the depression sinks in that it doesn't look like they can do that.

Enjoy talking in circles about the tiny little things all summer. Sometimes it's just that simple though.

I really think it will be Fox and Laffy … and hopefully Shesty if he is reasonable. (>10m)

We can hope that Smith will complement Kreider and Zib. But Ill die on the hill that without an effective 3rd line, we wont win anything.

I’d love Zegras. He has that F U attitude and can stir things up. Trouba ain’t going to ANA

With Zegras, we can move Trocheck to RW (he will still take faceoffs) on that line with Panarin, and LAF can move onto the Zib line and hopefully the progression hes made can click with them. Its a pipedream though.

As long as they score is all that matters.

Come playoffs Id probably change the lines around and use Trocheck as ‘3C’. Theres a lot of flexibility.

- Slimtj100

How many years ago was this??? As a first line center making almost 9 mil, he has to drive play, he just doesnt.

Where will we find the Cap space and trade bait for this supposedly first line RW?? The other teams know we need one, Drury will get fleeced.

Let’s say Zegras for Chytil Kakko 2nd

Kreider Trocheck Smith
Panarin Zib Laf
Cuylle Zegras Othmann
Vesey Carrick Rempe

That 3rd line could be a momentum changer.

Draisaitl zero goals vs Florida, should they “dump” him? If not why not

Sometimes the opponent knows what they’re doing defensively

Guy had a broken back, Broken arm and a concussion.
