For me its Kunitz or Hossa...and I still love Jake and realize he was the highest producing with Sid. Hossa became an even 2 way force after he left...but for time with Sid I might have to go with Kunitz. Kunitz was a sandpaper physical guy who also produced a lot. My favourite kinda guy....grit AND skill. Such a bigger sample size with Kunitz, as well.
I do think if you just look at them all as individual hockey players that Hossa is the best one of those 3, though.... - MattStrat
Yep, this is how I looked at it too. Less about what they did in Pittsburgh, and more about their overall body of work.

All great players. I'd go Hossa, Kunitz, Guentz. Can't go wrong with any of them, but I loved the fit Kunitz and Crosby. Played above his weight. |

Technically wasn’t Mario Sid’s best linemate? |

I don't think they spent a ton of time together, but if we're talking purely players who've spent any amount of minutes with Sid, yeah but they only played 25 games together in the lineup, and I don't think they played on a line consistently. That data isn't available though.

Cooke-Sid-Kennedy was a line for a few games after Sid made his comeback from the tissue ordeal in his neck, and they killed it. |

I forgot how much Malone signed for in Tampa Bay. Wow. He did ok for the first four years or so. Made about $29M after the compliance buyout in year 6. |

Excellent interview with Malone on the Cam and Strick podcast. Check it out. Andy Strickland is a great interviewer and Cam Jansen’s hilarious. |

Kunitz was the perfect winger for Sid, he was so good that they put him on the top line of the Gold Medal winning Olympic team for Canada. He was good enough to make plays and finish but he is the only guy Sid has ever played with that forechecked super hard and sent a lot of easy turnovers Sid's way.
I don't even think Hossa should be in consideration. Amazingly talented player, yes. But they played together for 1/3 of a season and a great playoff run and he split. Thats not a large enough sample size.
So for me its:
1. Kunitz
2. Guentzel
3. Rust - who is just insanely underrated for the impact he has had on the team over the years. |

If we're throwing in Hossa, where does Making rank. Back when they played together a few shifts a game they were pretty dominant. It wasn't the smartest way to build the team, but imagine if they just ran Kunitz-Sid-Malkin for a year. |

Crosby and Malkin would’ve put up comparable numbers to McDavid and Drai the past few years. No head / neck injuries for Crosby and a Hossa caliber winger from 2009-2016 would’ve gave him close to 400 more points right now. |

Give each team a power play instead.

Basketball has an over and back rule. No difference.
IMO three on three overtime hockey is extremely boring. Shootouts are merely boring.
Giving each team a power play to determine overtime would be somewhat exciting. Sullivan, at the very least, practices that aspect of the game.

Clearly the solution is 2-on-2 OT. |

I don't really mind the current format. The shootout is a little cheesy, but serves the purpose of no ties. I remember having ties and hated them. |

I just don't understand what's wrong with a tie... Two teams battling hard and evenly, neither getting it done and both ending up with a point each. Makes so much more sense to me than a losing team being awarded anything. Also, shootouts and 3 on 3 are gimmicky crapshoots. |

Just my preference. Saw a lot of ties over the years. Paid for a lot of tie games. Personally, I like the 3v3. They've gotten over-coached (sans our dope coach) over the years, but it's still two teams putting their top skill on the ice. I agree, the shootout is a gimmick.

It’s the only team likely to win anything in town in the next half decade. I care. |

They’ve sucked for so long that I’ve developed a soft spot for ANY amount of success for them. Even though I despise the owner. |

I don't follow too closely, but the Skenes phenomenon is cool. Appreciate the greatness. |
