They had a good offseason. Why the hell do they need a different GM? Bowman hasn't been good at his job since 2015. Big gamble to expect him to improve nine years later.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. Despicable hire. Been an Oilers fan for more than 40 years, but I can't ignore this decision. Hopefully the reaction is universal condemnation and the Oilers correct their course before the season starts, but the fact that we got to this point at all can't be erased. Stain on the Oilers, stain on Katz and JJ went from hero in this town to persona non grata. Screw that guy! (and look the other way)

But honestly, this is a yikes. Granted Edmonton has been a 2nd chance franchise going back as far as MacT, but this one is

Damn …. Yes the guy deserves a second chance just not in the NHL…

Sportsnet won’t even allow comments on the article. 🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂😂

That’s the way I see it…

Smart hire. Two thumbs up. The reactions are priceless though. You should probably stop covering the team. Maybe therapy can help?

how about you say that to Kyle or the other kids that were assaulted? maybe instead of advising therapy for victims, you stop promoting the guys who helped get them raped?

Calm down - they aren’t letting you in the video room no matter how excited you are.

You lefty vaxx supporters are creepy. I get your sides agenda is to allow for grooming and that but this is the nhl man - this hire shouldn’t have been allowed. You people have ravaged schools enough. Leave pro hockey out if your agendas.

It's cool & edgy to be all pro-rape.

Pretty sure it's guns ravaging the schools, not people telling kids "It's okay to express who you are without absolute morons screaming about it because they're scared of how the world changed around them"

Not everything is a lefty conspiracy. Sometimes you gotta use common sense. Oh its a pain I know…but ya gotta… at least sometimes.

Great blog, Sean! Why would Edmonton do this??? They were the odds on favorite to win the Cup next year and now the organization gets to deal with this all year. I'm sure Connor is going to love answering questions about his new GM all year. Just a brutal hire.

Jeeze, you're acting like he's the one guilty of sexual assault. Get over it already. There's nothing he could've done to reverse the assault. It happened. Sure his reaction to it and how he dealt with it should've been better. But he's been punished for it enough. Everyone except the person who committed the assault can get a second chance and learn from their mistakes.

I don't think anybody will disagree that the past issues with Bowman are bad. That is obvious. However, at what point does somebody get a second chance? Sure we can all have opinions and so on, but personally, if Beach and Kennedy have given their "OK" and forgiveness, who are we to say that is not enough?

Have the other victims given their"OK"?
The victims that we know of.

None of them should be allowed back in the league. They can work in the KHL.

He can be forgiven, he can find redemption. He doesn't have to be GM of the Edmonton Oilers for that to happen. Frankly the fact that he doesn't see a problem with being back in that role tells me that he's not ready for it yet.
