Can't the team call the new agent and get clarification on Koslov's intentions? Does the new agent speak English, or is that a barrier in communicating as well?

I'm sure they have, and are probably keeping the conversation a secret, which is worrying because if he said he was coming over they would say so.

I think the difference here is Gautier specifically diddn't want to play for the Flyers while Kolosov doesn't want to play in North America. Cutter still had value and was moved. Kolosov has no value to another NHL team. Kolosov needs to recognize this is what he was paid for and be a professional about it, or not. I hope he comes over, but if not, that choice has consequences.
Also based on all the Cutter Hate, maybe Flyers were trying to protect Kolosov as much as they were themselves in keeping this low key.

Kolosov isnt blocked though. He actually has a better shot than before to get into the NHL. People forget the goalies going into last season were Hart and Ersson. Kolosov was still blocked unless the Flyers moved one.

Now however the Flyers have Ersson who may be a solid starter, maybe not and Fedotov who we still have no idea what hes going to be. The Flyers G situation could be good or a complete poopshow which makes Kolosov a good shot to join the team.

If Fedotov doesnt work out you could see him and the team terminate his contract and go back to the KHL if the Flyers plan to demote him because he sucks. The issue right now is the Flyers jumped through hoops and made a ton of promises to multiple parties just get get Fedotov here so they are pretty much forced to commit to Fedotov for this season.

It isnt that he doesnt want to, they say he isnt ready to. He allegedly wants just 1 year in Russia. So the plan would be to come over next season if the Flyers cave which I think they probably do.

agree.

seems it is more than just homesick. promises broken?

No way Ivan gives up what 7 million or even half that. He will suck it up for 2 years no matter what imo. It isn't like he is 21 and can make that up on the backend.

Why Terminate? He can just sit on LTIR and collect a paycheck. It isnt like he will be able to sign elsewhere, his career is done.

flyers gonna start passing on russians and college players!!!
- Hello its me 2050

This is not just a Flyers problem, this is a league problem. Russia has repeatedly demonstrated they could care less for protocols or rules, and they will do what they want with their players. Thus to me if Kolosov wants to stay in Russia he will stay and there is nothing the Flyers or the league can do about it. Michkov wanted to come to the United States badly, apparently Kolosov does not.

But when it comes to colllege players this is a real concern also. Not just because of Gauthier but also because of Rutger McGroarty who is at a stalemate with the Jets. The league has got to clamp down on this before it quickly gets out of control and the NHL becomes the NBA, with players banding together to go to a single destination.

The thing that gets me is it does not appear the Flyers did anything wrong with Kolosov, that this is all on the player. I think we need to get all the facts before we pile on Briere and the team. If the Flyers did anything wrong, they might not have vetted this player as well as they should have.

I don't see where drafting Russian players is a problem. dont see any wave of players not finding there way to the NHL.

College isn't a concern either to me. They have rules in place. Seems all are following said rules. If you have a good organization players will go there.

Get all the facts you say yet you defend the 3 stooges at every turn.

I defend them until the facts say I shouldn't. The problem I have with you and others on this site is your default position is everything Briere and company do must be wrong, and that is not something I can get behind.

And as far as the college rules go, they need to be altered immediatly, you are drafted by a team you play at least the term of the ELC for that team, period. Or you don't play in the NHL.

well your way off base as usual.

never said all they do wrong. will give accolades when warranted. They haven't done much to get any accolades. They surely do not get the benefit of the doubt. I also have next to no faith they will get it right.

You have fellated over several regimes. you defend until the end. just like you defend the cutter debacle.

they cant change the college rules until Next CBA as I doubt the players association will go for any chnages now. what you propose will also likely never happen.

War has made things difficult for sure. Flyers had Fedotov coming, gets conscripted then all of a sudden doesnt want to play in the NHL after then magically he comes over. It is clear something strange is going on with Russia. Even with Michkov there seems to have been some shady dealings to make it happen. Now Kolosov on top of it. It doesnt seem like an org issue, there seems to be something going on with Russia.

College situation is different. I dont think they will avoid college players, I think they are going to avoid prospects using Gauthier's agent. The size reason for not picking Biuim seems like a cover excuse. I dont for a second believe thats the main reason for passing on Biuim.

Ivans situation was totally diff than normal as it involved militrary service. that was not on the flyers as out of their hands.

if so then that is flat out dumb. agree on why they passed as probably the main reason.

Wow. I suppose their position will be that he played right up until he was traded and all of the sudden he couldn't any more because they wanted to send him down?

This is where the approach needs corrected. Patience and caution, caution and patience. Bring him over for a few games at end of season, then plant him on the bench behind Cal Peterson (who has no future in this organization) for the entirety of the playoffs. We have an acknowledged player development problem, stop babying these kids.

I am fine with the outcome that forces RyJo to be available and tradable.

Sounds like Torts does not like the player and Danny knows it.

I always took it as he was hurt and played through the injury because he was on a contender. Then he was traded to PHI and decided it wasnt worth playing through anymore. Whether or not he would have sucked it up if he had a spot on the NHL roster is up in the air but Lets face it his stats were garbage with Colorado. He clearly wasnt healthy

Dunno what the Flyers got on him but you can be sure that if an NHL team doesnt want you, they will do anything to get out from the contract. Flyers probably watching him like a hawk looking for an excuse. Carolina did the same thing with Scott Darling. Guy did a spittin chicklets interview and went off on CAR and the NHL because he joined the substance abuse program and it was used against him to try to terminate his bad contract.
