Good game to watch. Lombardi is going to be a Wing next year. He is good in the O-zone but has to pick up his D game. I liked the over all play of the young bucks. Dallas was stymied by the pipes, hitting them 6 times! Wings got the puck luck!
Finne got of a great 1-timer on a broken play on the PP for a goal.
Gylander and Miller looked good. Kearsey was quiet this game after being a +3 last game, but keep an eye on him!

I guess we passed on this guy:
TSN’s Chris Johnston reports the deal is finalized and Soderstrom will join Brynäs on a two-year agreement. It will mark the first time since the 2019-20 season that Soderstrom has suited up for the Swedish squad. The Utah Hockey Club will retain his signing rights as a restricted free agent should he choose to return to North America after the end of the contract.

They were either asking a high price or unwilling to move him. As for Lombardi, I think he may start in GR. Danielson had some filthy steals today but I want him to shoot more. With a scoring winger he could rack up some apples.

Danielson is coming sooner than later!
My hope is he starts the season on the second line between Taresenko and Kane. That would give the Wings two scary good lines and move Compher to number three center and Copp packing his bags.

I’d love to see him up. He got a hard dose playing Milwaukee in the playoffs. It’s on him to show he can hang with the pros. Looks like he put on 5-10 lbs, skating looks good. Still have to seem him facing NHLers but i think he and Mazur could both have extended looks.

Update - the shot block that had Buium crawling on the ice may have him on IR. Waiting for more updates. From PHR:

Red Wings prospect blueliner Shai Buium was injured today after taking a shot off the ankle, relays Max Bultman of The Athletic (Twitter link). The team is hopeful that he will be able to take part in Detroit’s training camp but it’s too early for that to be known just yet. Buium is getting set for his first professional season after spending the last three years at the University of Denver. He finished up his college career on a high note with 36 points in 43 games last season before making his debut with AHL Grand Rapids for one game.

I wouldn't put money on that at all. He didn't dominate the two rookie games against Dallas which you would kind of expect not only from someone that would star in the AHL let alone the NHL. I think he starts in the AHL and could possibly struggle early on like Kasper did last season. I could be wrong but this is how i feel it will go based on seeing him play in those two games.

Lombardi looked more noticeable than Danielson and he basically has no shot at making the Wings this season.

He had a tough time in those few AHL games. I think Lombardi drives the net better but Danielson is better on playmaking and doesn’t shoot near enough. I hope to be blown away by a rookie but the leap is so huge. I’m just glad to actually watch the games again. Dallas probably should’ve had this one (not trying to be a jerk). I thought Detroit was the better team Saturday but not today. But I loved it. I loved having a game to watch.

I disagree about the playmaking. That is what Lombardi is best at. Aside from his last season in the OHL, he always had way more assists than goals. Last season with GR he had 5 goals, 21 assists. He doesn't have a great shot.

Like i said, i think Danielson will have some adjustments to make to his game this season with GR kind of like Kasper had to last season. Hopefully he can make those adjustments early on and gets on a roll faster than Kasper did last season.

Yes, very nice to have hockey back. A bit worrisome that soon camp will start and none of the Wings RFAs are signed yet. Wings can't start the season without Seider/Raymond if they want any hope at a playoff spot.

A wing by next year, I meant it as 2025.

I meant within the game itself. Lombardi was definitely in the thick of it, but Danielson had (opinion) better reach, crisper passes, smooth steals and just looked to me (opinion again) to be at a higher level. I think we agree we have to see what they look like at the next levels. It’s awesome to have two players we can go back and forth on!

I am concerned as well about the RFA situation. I think the agents are pushing some portion (whether it’s $ or bonuses or who knows what) that the office isn’t ready to commit on Raymond. It may not be unreasonable to think that Mo is waiting to hear Razor’s number before they finalize. JB, who knows. The amounts may have him squeezed out
