Makiniemi is only 25…..has had some injury issues derail his career to this point but was a highly touted prospect on a few years ago….not a bad up to bring in at all.

You are but for Coots to become a Jordan Staal like player near the end of the contract isnt the worst thing in the world. Not ideal but at least you got a productive player wheras the alternative is that he isnt productive at all. I dont see the Flyers dipping into FA next season. Theres too much money that needs to be paid out to the players we have.

Good news is Ellis will be gone, Peterssen gone, Delaurier gone, Hathaway Gone, Laughton probably gone if not resigned at much lower hit, Cates gone or signed at lower rate, Fedotov gone. That and Cap increases can probably cover those raises.

If that is true, then the Flyers are showing that they want to work with the player. They are giving way some when they don't have to. That is a good thing.

A coach should coach. Benching a player repeatedly without explanation is not coaching to me. This is especially true when other players are seemingly immune to being benched despite long periods of sub par play.

Peterson in Reading! He’s gonna love it. The pagoda. The minor league baseball. The Rajah Theater. The Duryea Hillclimb. The Ugly Oyster and Northeast Taproom. The smell of mushroom farms wafting in from out of town to cover up the city’s urine odor.

He might like it. He could afford a palace in Reading. No Flying Hills Apartment Complex for him like the rest of the minor leaguers. Find somewhere out near where Roger Penske had a house.

There is plenty of indication. Cates is playing 4th line minutes at 2.6 mill. He is making more than Hathaway, theres no way that continues. Flyers may also opt to just replace Cates with Lyksell. Laughton is going to be 32 at the end of his deal with Luchenko likely ready to make the roster if he isnt there already. There is no raise there for Laughton. Hes pretty much peaked. He will likely be pushed down to a 4th line role if they keep him and may be even hitting his decline at that point or at least in the next couple years.

Well the current coach doesn't explain anything to the players if he benches them. The player in question has to go into Tort's office tell him to F off then sweep everything off his desk with extreme malice then threaten to kick his arse. Tort's gets a woody then will open the lines of communication.

Couts was told nothing initially. He said as much when interviewed the day of.

With Evander Kane out, his cap hit about the same as Risto, and the Oilers need for a RHS 2nd pairing defenseman, I think there is a good chance the Flyers trade Risto to the Oilers if he continues to show he is healthy. This would free up a spot and enable both Ginning and Andrae to stay with the Flyers.

Torts publicly stated Couts needs to play better when asked about it. Do you honestly think Torts would say this in public without first talk to the player? I believe Torts in this instrance, and I don't believe Couts was being honest. Torts also has been very public with Fort's situation, in fact at one point stated Frost was up and down like a toilet seat. Again, no way Frost did not know what he was being benched.
