I just can't understand Kolosovs thinking. Is he hoping for some sort of arbitration to get him out of his contract.

He put he name on a contract, he needs to honor it.

It's very strange and I don't get it either. He must be getting bad advice from somewhere. I agree with you. Honour the contract and see where it takes you.

Would the fans in this city even welcome kolosov at this point?

Would he receive boos until he proves he could be s good goalie?

I think he has already hurt his reputation here a little bit

I don't think anyone cares. He's not well known enough. Plus, the hockey coverage in Philly sucks! The main stream media acts as if they don't exist. Turds!

I would also welcome him. He is young and maybe got bad advise from an agent. He would have to earn my complete trust though.

Well he'd be playing in Allentown to start, and I think the fans there would appreciate anything that means fewer starts for Cal Petersen.

I think if Kolosov does come over, Petersen will be the 3rd goalie for the Phantoms

And yet, Hassan Redd1ck is doing largely the same thing. And losing 10 times more.
Games of chicken between organizations and players are not that uncommon. Almost always, the player wins.

Bill do you buy either of the reasons why Kolosov isn't here? Or is there more to it?

1. he was/is homesick.

2. he wants a guaranteed nhl job

you also mention he can overtake Cal within a couple of months. why wouldnt he be the starter off the bat? cal has zero future with the flyers.

Oh for sure. If today he said, i've come to my senses and am coming over, it'd be water under the bridge for me. Especially if it turns out that he is as strong of a g prospect as we have heard. We could then send Cal to the ECHL. for a 1 yr conditioning stint.

Big difference, Redd!ck has been in the league for quite some time and has proven to be a top player.

Kolosov was drafted in the 3rd round, was a mediocre goalie in his league and has proven nothing in North American hockey.

I wouldn't say he's mediocre in the KHL. His situation is more comparable to Fedotov's last year. Fed had proven nothing in NA and had slightly better stats in the KHL regular season but worse stats in the playoffs in 2024. Fed is older and has a better track record in the KHL though.

Fed wasn't coming over without bending Briere over. The NHL spot and contract extension were all agreed upon before he ever set foot on the plane.

I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the player coming over from Russia.

I'm told that the contract had to be a certain number to get Fedotov to come to North America.

Just because Briere caved on Fed because he was desperate to make the playoffs last year doesn't make Fed a better guy, it just makes him the guy who got paid.

The KHL isn't bending over backward for Kolosov like they did Fed so what Kolosov is doing is mystifying but is Fedotov any more a sure thing in NA than Kolosov?

Agreed on Kolosov. Can't they just send Cal to the ECHL anyway?

Maybe Briere has more faith in an Olympic medal winning goalie who also won a championship.

Perhaps, but your argument was that Kolosov had proven nothing in North America but that argument holds true for Fedotov as well. Fed wasn't falling over himself to come over last year either. He made demands, which he was in better position to make, to which Briere caved despite him never playing in NA.

Flyers fans should remember when Jiri Dopita was considered the best player not playing in the NHL and how that worked out.

Tough crowd.

Flyers misused him as well but his NHL career never panned out.

If the Flyers had called up Kolosov and had him play 3 games for them while posting a 4.95 GAA and an .811 SV%, what would be the narrative be around him coming into this year?
