And for those exact reasons you should have no faith in him being productive across a full season, no chance he plays 70 games in my book

Really? You dont think having a season under his belt will improve his ability to endure the upcoming season? You dont think the fact that hes healthy wont improve his production?

Really? He didn’t finish the season and he was horrible in the second half. He sucked and couldn’t keep up. And then he had surgery in the off season. So now you think he’s magically built for an entire season of productive hockey? Get your head out of your rear end.

I don’t have a magic 8 ball myself and there has been a poop tone of concern surrounding the health of Drysdale and Rostolainen this summer to the point that I forgot about Coots. I’d put up large paper, folding money that Coots is the guy we should be most concerned about, especially because of his deal. I hope I’m wrong. I hope Coots plays and plays well but man, the second half of the season was tough to watch.

Id be concerned if his back seemed to be the issue. It does not appear to be.

Minimum 50 points. I think it will still take time to get back to where he was at.

It is absolutely correct. In my line of work, I interact directly with loss prevention officers of numerous major retailers in the city. Go into Wal-Mart and see how everything is locked up. Krasner's policy of making it a summary offense has resulted in shoplifting becoming a crime that isn't prosecuted in a lot of cases. Resulting in police ignoring the crime.Resulting in organized crime rings shoplifting from stores and reselling online.

Seems odd place to stop conidering according to you he wouldnt be falling apart until after. Barring some sort of injury that causes him significant time I guarantee 50 points by the end of the year.

Sorry. Not correct.

The DA has amped up efforts to rid the city of such thefts by creating a retail theft task force and changing the $500 policy you speak of.

It's only a summary offense for first timers who walk away with an item valued less that $150.

Fair enough. In his case, perhaps the issue was him chasing them down. In which case, those stand your ground type laws may not apply.

I remember the case some years back when a German high school exchange student went trick or treating in Minnesota I think, and ended up at the wrong house and was legally shot dead.

- PT21

Yeah the laws can be pretty inconsistent or even nuanced from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Of course the laws in Texas are gonna be different from those in California. Some cases can get really weird, where someone might be justified in killing someone in defense of the home but guilty of possession of an illegal firearm. Fun stuff.

You dont think the reason he couldnt handle a full season was because

1) missed pretty much 2 full seasons
2) Was heavily played for a guy who hadnt played in 2 years
3) Had a Sports Hernia around the time of the decline.

Like many young players the ability to endure a full season doesnt just happen overnight. Coots has to get his endurance back. It is like expecting Landeskog to return for Colorado and perform at a level he played at before his injury all season long. It isnt going to happen. Everyone here knew Coots was playing too much given the amount of time missed. Torts didnt care and neither did Coots because frankly Torts had to scratch him to get him out of the lineup. He wouldnt do it himself knowing he couldnt play at an acceptable level

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I don't think we should write Couturier off but we also shouldn't be fully confident that he will get back to where he was. Couturier was not going to pull himself out of the lineup and he shouldn't have been taken out.

Yes, recently he has but the damage has been done. His policies have resulted in non-enforcement and massive amounts of retail theft. That's just the reality. Again, go into Wal-Mart and try to get a basic item off the shelf. A lot of it is locked up behind lock and key and you have to get an associate to get it for you. I deal with the loss prevention managers. It was so bad that Philly's new mayor declared a public safety emergency to deal with the problem. Created by Krasner and his lunatic policies.

It was also never the case that they would go free if amount was less than $500. A summary offense still involves a fine, and more importantly, stays on your record and raises the ante if you are caught again.

But now, the $150 threshhold makes it aligned with PA statutes

I do however agree the shoplifting has been allowed to get out of hand and a severe crackdown is in order.

Couple of years back, we used to have these battles about Couts versus Brayden Point (I favored the latter).

You're incorrect that it was never the case that they would go free. It happened routinely for years.

How has shoplifting gotten out of hand if they would never go free? How were organized crime shoplifting rings formed and thrived?

No graphs or charts for this one? It was never about laws on the books. It is about non enforcement.

I have yet to meet a super individual you has completely recovered from a bad back and play like their old self. John LeClair’s return from a bad back was devastating to me. He was still good but never the same.

I agree. It was a terrible problem. It has been addressed by the creation of a new task force and has begun to show positive results.
