Didn't watch the game that closely, but a couple of thoughts.

I don't think Beau is the guy on the 1st line.

I would have dressed McG to give him a look with Crosby. I think his fate has already been decided. He's going to the AHL.

Kept thinking it's noticeable that DOC isn't playing.

Considering they were playing most of Ott's starters, I thought Pickering and Brunicke looked pretty good.

I thought Glass was good again. He's earning a roster spot.

Brunicke got absolutely destroyed with a hit late game... Got up, shook it off, didn't sook or retaliate and went on with his shift. Loved how he handled all of that.

He looks like a legit NHL prospect. Maybe a mid-pairing guy. Kid is only 18 and he's been pretty solid against real NHL players.

From Haase:

Sullivan almost gets this light in his eye sometimes when talking about certain depth players or prospects he really admires, and when he was talking about what Imama can bring to the organization, he had that look on his face.

"Boko adds a lot," Sullivan said. "Obviously, he sticks up for our guys. He can initiate physical play. He plays a fairly conscientious game, he doesn't turn pucks over. And he's a terrific person. I don't know if you guys have had a chance to interact with him, but he really is. His energy is contagious. I think the guys really like him. He loves what he does, loves hockey, loves being on the ice, and I just love his energy. He's a really good teammate."

Grinder joining the Sullivan fan club today.

They've been giving Beau every chance to unseat DOC with Sid, but doesn't seem like it's taking. Seems crazy they were going to use Lizotte on Geno's line with Bunting in the lineup.

Also think they don't want their roster guys on the fourth line. Worked out to dress guys like Imama and to a lesser extent Poulin since it got a little chippy for a preseason game.

I read some of Sully's comments. Seems like he was experimenting. Seeing what some of the "new" vets can do. Sounded like he was very lukewarm on Beau on the top line. Pretty sure that's DOC's job entering the season.

Pretty sure the roster is set. I wonder who gets Lizotte's spot if he goes on IR?

It makes sense to try some things now. They still have way more pre-season games than they need to get ready. There will be injuries during the season where somebody needs to fill in on a line with Sid or Geno, good to take a look now.

Hahaha I was thinking Grinder might respect a guy who can take a big clean hit and not be a little b!tch or pvssy about it after. It's not like Burnicke watched Sid, or any other teammate, get cheap shotted and didn't respond.
