I would have like Brunicke to get the 9 games. Let him see what real competition is like and where he really needs to grow. St Ivany could have been sent down for that.
123kid mentioned it last blog and I agree dubas biggest priority should be finding someone decent for that top line. LW or RW, lines can be adjusted either way. If you find a good rw candidate the rust goes to Malkin and Rakell goes LW to Sid. |

Thats too bad about Brunicke. I dont see any harm at all in letting him get some big league games before reaching the limit and St. Ivany going down to the A for a few weeks...is there that much of a drop off from St Ivany to Brunicke?
Ah well. They must really think St. Ivany gives them the best chance to get standings points in that time frame....and well, they missed the playoffs by just 1 and 3 points the last two season haha |

I agree with Brunicke. Would have liked to see it. But he was against a solid player in St. Ivany so I'm not going to get too upset either way. Ultimately both are guys I'd potentially like to see have long-term futures with the Pens.
With Letang and EK's contracts, they probably drafted Brunicke thinking he'd be on at least a three year timeframe. I wonder if they would consider adjusting now and creating space for him, or else he'll be similarly blocked next year as well.... and the one after that. |

Responding to second paragraph. I don't see how they add a top line wing. Not only are they against the cap ceiling, they've spread their cap around to a lot of depth guys (hello almost 9M fourth line). You can get a team to take Glass as return for a rental, but a multi year guy like Hayes is probably a no. Just hard to make salaries line up. |

I would have given Brunicke the 9 games with the full intention of sending him down afterwards just so he can see what the real pace of an in season game is like against legit competition in games that matter. If he was seriously in contention of making the team juniors should be a joke to him. I would have just wanted him to get that taste so he knows. Not a big deal in the end either way. |

So Pens basically have their 23 man roster. Will need to put at least one of Ned or Lizotte on LTIR to get cap compliant. Could see St. Ivany or McGroarty paper moved to the minors tomorrow to maximize cap savings.
Only monkey wrench I see is if Rust is ready and that bumps McGroarty out would be go down? But I think Puljujarvi would be odd man out and McGroarty has the third line LW spot to start the year.
And that's the best potential answer to replacing DOC at top LW that I can see is McGroarty forcing his way up during the year. |

Top line wing should have an asterisk haha. Noones giving one for anything we have, or anything we would want to part with. Either Top 6 potential or Top line reclamation project? Idk but there’s got to be a better option than Doc, and Beauvillier as the next man up. Maybe Robertson out of Toronto. Unfortunately if he has a breakout year though he will be in the unaffordable category. Definitely not an easy assignment but Sid needs an upgrade.
Edit - or maybe McGroats mid year as you said. |

Yeah like I said I do agree.
Another factor might have been that keeping Brunicke might have changed the cap math on what they decided to do since his salary is bigger than St. Ivany's I believe. It might have changed the space they'd be able to bank for a potential deadline deal, and they may have weighed that against a 9 game tryout. |

Roster Has Taken Shape*

Technically that roster is 820k over. So I expect Blomqvist or McGroarty to be sent down on a paper move until someone else goes on LTIR. Blomqvist is closer salary but I think you have to have 2 goalies.
Otherwise what was expected once Brunicke was sent down. Rust will start on IR, though he's eligible to come off at any time . They could even add a 23rd guy if they wanted but I don't see any reason to right now. |

Anyone out there used the FSG App to stream games with any success?
I'd be looking to stream at home only over my wifi. Would prefer an xbox app but could use a fire stick. Would be looking for a reliable stream I wouldn't have to keep resetting.
Any insight good or bad is appreciated. Willing to fork over the 18/mo if the product is good. |

There used to be a NHL Live app for Xbox you subscribe too that was pretty good. The sub also have you access to it online on devices or PCs. Not sure it's still a thing, or not

If Boko clears he goes to Wilkes right? Pretty soft vanilla lineup. Especially when compared to the rest of the division. |

I didn’t think of the ELC burn angle. That’s actually a really good point. |

Does that really matter with it being Genoa last year and Sid opting into a tradable contract? |
