Worst case we are doing top 5 pick draft pick research by November. Best case this was a bad game against a good team and we will be fine.

While Jarry had a bad game... Joel Blomqvist has done nothing to *deserve* the start. He's here ONLY because you have to dress 2 goalies. LGP

What constitutes deserving a start for a goalie prospect? He was pretty damn good as the WBS starter last year. At some point you need to start seeing what you have.

Blomqvist "deserves" at least tonight merely because a) Jarry pooped everyone's bed yesterday, and 2) it's a b2b. If he does well tonight, I'd let him start until he stops being good. What has Jarry done to "deserve" the starting spot?

BTW, noticed McJesus & Co also got shellacked 6-0 by the Jets last night. And the mighty TOR was shutout 1-0 by the Habs. Vegas hung 8 on the Avs. Some crazy games.

Exactly right. Plus... Nothing motivates a starter more than an young guy trying to take his job. Although I've read the Penguins don't necessarily love the lack of competitiveness from Jarry.

I don't believe for a second a coaching change wouldn't make a difference.

Do they want to be comfortable or win? A bunch of losses gets uncomfortable pretty quick.

This bothers me too. It's a legit question because they don't seem inclined to change up the scheme which they can't play anymore. They have a general indifference to keeping pucks out of their own net. 10+ odd man breaks against last night.

I think they want to be good, but won’t change the approach to do so.

Really interested to see how they respond tonight. See if anyone sits and someone new comes into lineup. I'd take Graves out and put Shea with St Ivany. They were a solid 3rd pairing most games in that final stretch of mostly winning the last 10 to 15 games last season. Move Rak up with Sid. Take Beauvillier out and put Puus in Raks spot. Start Bloom in net.

I know it was only preseason but no matter who was in the lineup they all looked in sync for the most part and the last 4 games was mostly vs the opening night rosters.

The ONLY reason Jarry started last night was because the guy who started down the stretch last season was injured.

Bloomqvist has done everything that's been asked of him. He's played well enough that the organization did not try to sign a veteran goalie on the cheap. He desreves to be here and he's as ready as he's going to be.

The only thing I would change is, start the game as we finished. If Drew doesn't play with his head on straight, move McGroarty with Geno, Hayes with Eller, and O'Connor with Acciari.

To clarify, I would sit Graves and Jarry in favor of Shea and Bloomquist. I give O'Connor one period with Sid and Bunting to get his act together.

I think they dont see it that way. I think they see it as we've come close 2 years in a row, with some minor tweaks, they will be fine.

I dont agree with their logic, but I think if you listen to them talk before the season, they think everything is good.

Yeah...Blomqvist is 3rd on the organizational depth chart for goalies and the 2nd one is injured haha...that's how this works. Not to mention his life dedication and all the extremely hard work and sacrifice since he was a child to get where he is ...so this "has done nothing to deserve" narrative you've put forth is a load of sh!t IMO.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Fenway sports owns the team right…

they just clipped six coaches cause the Sox missed the postseason.

I’m just curious to see if they hold the pens to the same kind of accountability.-

Kind of a different situation, no? This team isn't supposed to make the playoffs.

Very different circumstances. The Red Sox should be among the top teams in baseball given their size and ability to attract talent. The Penguins are towards the end of an almost 20 years run with this group. They dont have anywhere near the circumstances the Red Sox or Liverpool FC have.

Sullivan did have Sid and Geno together for a couple shifts last night. That is something that Bylsma did on a regular basis. But for Sulli, that's a big deal.
