Let's keep arguing about the potential return for Liljegren at last year's TDL compared to now.

This seems really relevant and an indictment of, for or against, proper asset management.

I would have gotten one that was so insane, it would be sick.

Like Macklin Celebrini's spleen.

A spleen sweetener would be the sickest by a country mile and I'm not sure it's close!

Leafs traded a 7th dman on their team for a 7th dman on a worse team and picks.

Yes, differing opinions can be difficult to cope with. But, this can be avoided if necessary by not coming to a place where opinions are regularly shared.

Panic hasn't set in yet, but there's still a tonne of tickets.

Corner greens going for $78 each - that's about half of what the season ticket holder would have paid.

Cheapest lower bowl seats right now are $174 each. Once again, probably less than 50% of what the season ticket holder paid for them. But don't buy yet - you'll be able to get lower bowl tix for less than $100 by game time.

The move was good. The cap space provides some nice flexibility. They’re still probably going to lose a couple of guys when Dewar and Hacky come back. (Sending Reaves down which I don’t think they’ll do, means only losing one.)

Tonight is the perfect storm.

Facts:

- the secondary market for Leafs tix has dropped through the floor, post-COVID (note: this effect is much larger for weekday games than Saturday nights). My theory is that there are 50% or less people working downtown on any given day, so the demand just isn't there anymore.

- the Hallowe'en game is always, always, always not full. Too many people have duties around Hallowe'en - having to take kids out, having to hand out candy, or both.

If you don't have any Hallowe'en duties, tonight is the night to nab tickets at 6 pm.

Go to the Keg on York, enjoy their happy hour, and wait like a panther in a tree.

Then strike!

P.S. Some may not agree with me here, but I'd rather be the very front of the upper bowl than the top of the lower bowl.

One other fun fact:

Tickets used to be controlled by scalpers, and they worked together. And they didn't allow anyone to get out of line.

So nobody - and I mean nobody - would cut their prices just before the game, or even after the game had started. You risked getting shivved by the other scalpers.

There haven't been paper tickets for a few years now - it's all electronic. Scalpers have been replaced by Ticketmaster and other sites. The scalpers are gone.

So season ticket holders control the price they sell at. They'll put their tix up for sale on Ticketmaster days before, at stupidly high prices, thinking that it's just like the good old days, and they can get 2X value on a weeknight, and 3-4X value on a weekend.

And their tickets sit. And sit and sit and sit.

By 3 pm, panic starts to creep in, and they lower.

By 5 pm, they are willing to take pennies on the dollar.

Trust me.

seems like a better strategy now is to list them initially at a reasonable number..so they sell for something

I used to live at Yonge & Queen's Quay for a few years around 2000 - and I worked up on Wellington by Simcoe, so my walk took me through the ACC on the way home and if I happened to work late, scalpers were offering insane rebates on tickets. Like once the puck had dropped, around 7:15 you could get upper bowl seats for half price or less. I almost never capitalized on it though - by the time you're coming home that late, your wife (or soon to be in my case) is irked enough that it's probably just a good idea to go home.
