Yet all I hear is stay the course.
They need to be sellers at the deadline. Do a mini rebuild. The only player that should be untouchable is Sorokin. - JimmyP
A few are untouchable solely because of NTC's.
That list is:
- Barzal
- Horvat
- Pulock
- Pelech
- Mayfield, for who-the-(frank)-knows what reason
- Sorokin
Nelson and Palmieri should be aggressively shopped. It would help if Nelson picked up his production. You'd think he'd be a little more motivated in a contract year. They're both on pace for 29 goals, but Palmieri for 66pts and Nelson for 41pts. |

Palmieri may be their best forward so far

They may think about waiving it to go to a cup contender at the deadline. Who knows. I'm not sure what the Isles would get back for some of those guys. I can't imagine getting more that a bag of pucks for Mayfeild. Even then they may ask for the bag back.

They might, but I'm willing to bet they don't want to relocate their families for multiple years to a new city. Most of those guys are Isles lifers and I'm sure have some pretty established roots in the area.
Anything is possible but if they wanted the NTC in the first place then I think it's more likely than not that they want to stay here as long as they can. |

Question is, are they going to have Lou in charge of the fire sale and start over? Logic would say no….but it is the isles. When you get work done at a dentist, another dentist doesn’t wanna touch what someone else did. Not the greatest example, but why should Lou be in charge of selling assets for someone else to come in and build it?

He shouldn't be in charge of that, as far as I'm concerned. I really believe that if they could land 1sts (maybe more) for Nelson and Palmieri that they can expedite a retool.
Maybe Lee has some value since he's playing strong. If not, a buyout in the offseason saves $4M next year with a cost of $1.5M the season after that.

Yeah I think everyone is available if you ask me. Sorokin is the only one I’d hold onto. I believe Nelson and Palmieri bring back firsts. Here’s to hoping that Gary Bettman see’s the isles are in need of a first overall, and pretends we’re the Oilers of the 2010’s
