NYR are shopping Krieder and Trouba.
Copp+ extra '25 3rd for Krieder? Copp was real good with NYR as a rental. Copp is a better defensive forward, Kreider is a great net front guy. Do the Wings sacrifice D for more scoring. I would think so at this point.
Would the 2 teams revisit a Trouba trade? NYR has all 3 retention spots. Detroit needs more physicality on the blue line, but Trouba does take a lot of penalties. Would Petry go to NYR to contend for a Cup? Petry+ for Trouba at $4.5M? Would Trouba waive for Detroit if a less desirable team is bidding for him that he cannot block? Then the Wings have Gus to give also. Gus played on NYR and would simply replace Trouba on the 3rd pairing and has a 3rd pairing salary, but has another year. I think Petry and his expiring contract would be more desirable to them.

Yeah, I touched on that in the article. Trouba has already turned down Detroit at least according to what we heard. They may have more luck with the CBJ deal they’re looking at |

Lyon vs Varly in net.
Let's hope the Wings with dings can out shoot NYI like last time. Sorrokin was really good, but persistence paid off. Varly is no slouch but he no Sorrokin either. |

CBJ'S might take on his whole cap hit, for a big fat sweetener! |

Wow, you would think that CBJ would be on Trouba's no-go list! |

No interest in Kreider signed until age 35.
No interest in Trouba unless it comes with a nice sweetener, assuming Yzerman understands that we should be collecting sweeteners and not giving them away (aka Walman).
The cost to acquire Jiricek will be inflated because of his draft position rather than his actual play. But that's the type of move that a rebuilding team should make rather than our long list of awful UFA signings.
Last summer I said Logan Thompson for two 3rd round picks was a huge missed opportunity. 27-year old starter, 6'4, off to a great start with a 2.58 GAA and .914 SV%. Both stats better than his 1B partner Lindgren. But fortunately we have pro scouts who really know what they're doing...let's sign Tarasenko, Gustafsson, Petry, Chiarot, Holl, Copp, Compher, Husso, etc...I don't know which group of scouts are worse - pro or amateur.
P.S. Nice to be back after 9 months suspension. |

Good Lord, it was 9 months? That’s messed up. I’m also keen on Jiricek in terms of what we’ve heard. Trouba going from NYR to DET just feels like a kick in the groin going from a team that wants to go deep to, well, not that. Welcome back! |

I’m remembering your recent post Jeremy.
Quote;
Being critical of the team does not make someone “not supportive”. If something is going poorly and can be improved, start with a tweak.
Well said…….and on the eve of what should be a game between two non playoff teams and maybe a gimme for Detroit.
Here is my latest critique.
Steve Yzerman has sunk to a place that is very difficult to escape from. The changes he has made in the most recent past have all been ineffective, questionable, redundant and downright bizarre.
Yzerman’s drafting apart from Seider, Evindsson, Raymond along with a few names pending, has been a major bust and disappointment considering the amount of draft picks Detroit has accumulated since his arrival. Other acquisitions like Kane and Tarasenko are yesterday’s hero’s in decline. The entire defense core for the most part, other than the afore mentioned draftees, are an old and overpaid failure.
My heavens, all you need do is look at the team’s individual statistics sheet and ask yourselves some questions. Who are these guys and why are they still here on a team that continues to underachieve and fail year after year? And after you look at the mess called the statistics sheet, take a peek at the salary list if you really want to feel robbed. Rasmussen, Veleno, Fischer, Copp, Compher and Motte are nowhere men, who should all be charged with embezzlement and non-support of a Hockey Team for even collecting their pay-checks.
I was so fed up this past September once again hearing, it’s exhibition, then it’s early, now it the quarter season mark. And yes we are in a rebuild, but we should be further ahead of where we presently are.
Enough excuses already !!!!!
Steve Yzerman suffers from the very destructive hockey disease called Cronyism.
He held on to Blashill way too long. He took Adam Erne ( whatever in the world he ever saw in that guy ) under his wing back from Tampa. He took back washed up retreads Valtteri Filppula and Sam Gagner twice. Held on to DeKeyser, Bertuzzi, Hirose, Witkowski, Giovani Smith, Fabbri. and Suter just to mention a few, all way past their expiration dates.
Then there are his buddies, ex team mates Kronwall, Fischer, Verbeek and Cleary, presently embedded in management. Nobody seems to know if Nick Lidstrom’s job, Vice President of Hockey Operations is a worthy posting or just past merit cronyism. Is this management ever going to produce some success?
I think it’s long overdue that Chris Draper to be replaced in the Director of Amateur Scouting role immediately, as well as the ENTIRE coaching staff be replaced starting with Lalonde YESTERDAY. The rest can follow out the door in the best timely fashion available once a new coach is in place.
It truly doesn’t seem like Yzerman is going to do anything to try improve this team. He fiddled through Deadline 2023, applied bandaids in the offseason, now what?
Unfortunately, Cronyism is a Terminal Condition that will cause this franchise to continue to wallow in mediocrity as long as it exists.
But, who it will terminate and how long it will take, is the outstanding question…..??????? |

Uh oh. GeoffY's post won't go over well by some. Multiple choice response:
a) You sound spoiled
b) Rebuilds take time
c) Help is coming from the following prospects...
d) Who are you? Trust the experts!
Bonus points if the response says something about hindsight.

I was going to respond direct, but this will be a short and sweet. All of us need to blow off steam from time to time. This is a blog, the more diverse opinions the better. I’m sick to death of people getting suspended or reported over nothing. As long as no one is saying anything non-legal or dangerous, what is the problem? I’m not happy that C was suspended over nothing. It’s stupid and is killing interaction. Say what you feel and how you want to say it as long as you’re within “community guidelines” it’s all good. |
