Was never in doubt. Score was flattering for a feeble team. The late penalty on OEL was laughable. Maybe the league should suspend Kadri for OEL getting cross-checked.

Hail Baerubae! This team is tight.

HDGF vs. HDGA
24/25 - 1.48 to .78
23/24 - 1.66 to 1.33
22/23 - 1.57 to 1.05
21/22 - 1.69 to 1.61

Yes they've created a little less but they are giving up so much less. Factor in the injuries up front and this is impressive stuff.

Goalies are great but this is as much about system and controlling the really dangerous stuff.

My kids all dress like it's 1993 so makes sense the Leafs are playing Pat Burns hockey!

Great game last night. Too bad I missed most of it. I unexpectedly got volunteered into some poop and missed the last two periods.

I'm glad I didn't pick the Lightning to win, because Ducherov's last minute scratch might have blown my pick. Vasi looked ordinary, as I said before. While he's not "old" and is still technically in his prime, he has not been the same since that surgery. This new Vasi is average and definitely not worth the cap hit. I guess that's the price paid for two Cups and a trip to the HOF. Tampa fans are hoping he regains his form, but I think this IS his new form.

With Vezina Vasi, Tampa was a perennial contender. With new average Vasi, they are a wildcard team at best.

Did pretty good on my picks last night : (9-3)

MTL - NYR : MTL - wrong
CAR - FLA : FLA - correct
TOR - TBL : TOR - correct
WSH - NJD : WSH - correct
CGY - PIT : CGY - wrong
PHI - STL : PHI - correct
OTT - LAK : LAK - correct
BUF - NYI : NYI - correct
NSH - MIN : MIN - correct
EDM - COL : EDM - correct
UTA - VGK : UTA - correct
SJS - SEA : SEA – wrong

Record : 50 - 34 (.595%)

Cover song of the week. This song was written by Ted Koehler, first recorded by Cab Calloway. It was often performed at the Cotton Club, and is considered a jazz standard. Harrison playing ukulele on this song is fitting. A version of this track was released on his final album.

Vasi had little to do with the loss. No Doucherov, no Stamkos didn't help. The Leafs owned the Bolts for the first 55 minutes of the game. Late bullpoop call on OEL made it way closer than it was. Vasi made several great saves. Leaf goals were all beauties. Tampa defense slow and sub par, Cernak gets away with 3 or 4 dirty plays every game.

Somebody from the Leafs PR department should tell the players that saying some form of "I don't care" should never come out of their mouths.

Just a bad look regardless of whether they care or not

Mathews complaining about people researching the reason for his trip to Germany this time.. But Mathews and Marner in particular have a habit of it.

I'm going to say that not all markets are created equal. The Toronto market is just plain exhausting. I'm a fan and I find the media exhausting. As long as they are not caustic or too combative - sometimes the media has to be put in their place.

Letting them know that something they won't shut up about is really a non-issue - especially when Matthews has answered about 15 questions all intended to get the root of the same thing - which he has said he has no intention of discussing.

"The fans are free to do what they want."

"I don't care what the fans do or say in their spare time."

"I've already told you I'm not discussing the nature of the injury."

"The Toronto, the fans are very passionate and I'd expect nothing less than speculation."

"It's not like you even care."

"Why don't you eat poop and die?"

I mean they are all the same thing - just some might be a little more combative or caustic. The first three aren't polished. The 4th is what they are supposed to say - and I hate it because it stops the players from ever thinking or being themselves. Everything they do is coached and practiced and rehearsed.

The last one is probably not acceptable, but there are times when the second last one should be pointed out to the media - you've asked and asked and asked and asked - you know the answer. At what point is it harassment?

Sure the media can be a pain in the ass. But just answer the (frank)ing question, and everyone moves on.
If its non hockey related, say that.

But its nowhere near harassment.

I'm tempted to agree, but we all know that would not be the end of it. We would hear stories and specualtion ad nauseum... and he would be asked about it every day.

What I would be in favor of is him saying he isn't going to answer questions about it. Then when someone asks about it again, he just says "Great, no more questions, thanks everyone" and leaves.

Of course, that would cause a sh1tstorm also.

The point is that he has already answered these questions from these same people numerous times. Just because they rephrase it or reposition it doesn't change the fact that it's the same question from the same person.

He did answer the (frank)ing question and he tried to move on.

That's my point.

Meh, nothing burger. (frank) the press. They should stop asking players about their PRIVATE injuries. Period. A person is NOT obligated to reveal that to anyone.

Obviously if you tell the press you had your shoulder fixed the first thing the opposing team is going to do his try to re-injure that shoulder. Dumb to think otherwise.

with the massive push for sports gambling, the NHL should require injuries be disclosed

George Harrison was the most talented Beatle, once the late 80's and 90's rolled around. McCartney was pretty much spent by 1986, while Harrison put out great albums like Cloud 9 and the Traveling Wilbury's albums. Always thought that George was underrated, while in the Beatles. By Abbey Road, his music was actually better than Lennon and McCartney. Died way too soon.

Nice 2 points for the Leafs on the road and bouncing back from a loss. Woll looked good. Solid team game for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Not at the risk of player safety.

And I'm not a proponent of the push for sports gambling especially how aggressively the NHL is doing it on every commercial break. Takes away from the enjoyment of the game IMHO

Yeah why say anything more than you have to? Bookies and gamblers can take a guess, that's what it's all about anyway.
