Not that he isn't talented, but he was attempting to tap that in the net. His position below the goal line and the defender's stick are what force the puck to Frost.
I think one of his skills the clip demonstrates well is that he always has his stick and his hand placement on the stick in a position to shoot when he is away from the puck in the o zone. |

Not sure he was trying to make a pass either, but that's a really good observation about his stick position. |

Chicago has used 10 draft picks in the first round over the last five years. They have two more this year.
The first round picks the Blackhawks have made in the past five years include Lukas Reichel (17th, 2020), Nolan Allan (32nd, 2021), Kevin Korchinski (7th, 2022), Frank Nazar (13th, 2022), Sam Rinzel (25th, 2022), Bedard (1st, 2023), Oliver Moore (19th, 2023), Artyom Levshunov (2nd, 2024), Sacha Boisvert (18th, 2024), and Marek Vanacker (27th, 2024).
Would love to see the Flyers come close to that. Flyers have four in the last three drafts. 3 this year. Hopefully they can add a few for 2026 and 2027 as well.
Since the 2015-2016 season (year after the Hawks last cup) the Flyers have averaged 7 more points per season. Since the beginning of the 2020-2021 season the Hawks have a point% of .381 and the Flyers are .468. |

So what's the conclusion here?
1) Michkov displayed pure magic.
2) He was doing what 99% of players would do in that position and direct the puck into the net or at least into the crease. But Forsling's stick chopped Michkov's stick at the exact moment which caused the puck to die, and was luckily right there for Frost to tap in?
I vote #2. They could try that 100 more times and never re-create that... |

99% of the league cannot make that play. Other skilled players could for sure. If you want to sell his talent short that is fine. But don't act like every Joe Schmo would have made that play.

I'm saying most players standing below the goal line would try to get their stick on the puck and try to get it back in the crease. I'm not selling short his skill. But picking out that particular play without recognizing that Forsling whacked his stick at that exact moment?? Odd.

Did the Flyers front office write this article for you to publish. Fact is MM pass was not a pass at all but a fortunate bounce from a missed tip. Wish MM would show that magical touch you refer to once in awhile. His 5 on 5 play all year has been pretty weak. He excelled on the PP in the early part of the season as well as on 3 on 3 both situations is where he has earned the majority of his points. MM has been far from magical the last 6 weeks or so |

I agree everyone would try to get there stick on the puck. I disagree that 99% of the league would have. Especially with a defender whacking there stick.

That and also his ability to see the play developing and getting to the right place on the ice to present his stick. That is what most impresses me about Michkov and you can see it in this clip. |

Carter and Recchi over Richards? - mickel25
For 2nd center I was torn between Richards, Carter and Briere. In the end I picked Carter because he scored more goals and had a much better +/-. It was hard because I liked all of them.
Recchi even in his second stint with the Flyers put up very good numbers. Recchi was second only to Giroux in pts/gm for a player that played 300+ games for the Flyers. |

True, but he just didn't play enough games as a Flyer for me to include him. |

And they are still a gigantic dumpster fire. They better get it together soon or they are headed to Buffalo levels of demoralization. |

it doesn't matter how many picks you have. What matters is if you can draft the right players and development them in the right environment.

The cautionary tale of tanking, once you start you many never get out of it. Buffalo with how many top picks, great prospect pool, several head coaches, and once again in last place this season. |

Calling it a huge win is hyperbole. Bad for the Flyers and a nothing burger for Florida. |
