The one thing the Leafs are actually the best in the NHL at is playing with the cap. I'm never worried about that part.
- Rare_Jewel

If they play with it too much, they'll go blind.

But… if they don’t use it, they lose it 🤷

From what I understand from a cap perspective the leafs have room to add Jarnkrok and Hak. Plus a few others, assuming lay on expiring deals where they will retain.

I expect some sort of double retention on a player that will bring their cap hits to the 400-650K range like they did with Edmondson to help create room.

Also will likely trade Benning for 100K cap space, maybe bury Reaves for some space as well.

- Santo_44

They do have enough but they're carrying 23 bodies (not including Minten) so every addition means they have to subtract.

Jarnkrok in ....Holmberg or Robbie out.
Hakanpaa in ....Myers or Timmins out.
New 3C in ....Holmberg or Robbie out.

There's no obvious subtraction so I'm guessing he times their return to the lineup together with any trades. Timmins, Robertson, Holmberg could likely be tied into any trades.

San Jose has Ferraro and Vlasic.

Chicago has Jones with the right amount retained could work if used correctly.

Rielly + Kampf ---> VAN
Jenner + Severson ---> TOR
JT Miller ---> CBJ

- Rare_Jewel

JT Miller is a perfect C options for the Leafs.

I would like to see Rielly + Kampf + Minten to Van for JT Miller and Soucy.

The line up is perfect for the playoffs after that:

Knies, Matthews, Marner
Domi, Miller, Nylander
McMann, Tavares, Jarnkrok
Lorentz, Holmberg, Dewar

McCabe, Tanev
OEL, Soucy
Benoit, Hakanpaa
Timmins

Stolarz
Woll

Hell ya! And then sign Tavares for cheap-ish next year and win the Cup again with the same line up.

I'd like to get Soucy, so we can call him Sans Souci.

Leafs need a shutdown 3C and top-4D, not anther top-six forward.

Also, if the Leafs did acquire Miller, either he or Tavares would play LW.

And furthermore, Tavares is not coming back cheap especially if he puts up big numbers and they miracle a Cup win.

Dippoop, I'm NOT the one posting political poop.

Always trying to starts fights in here Cush. Mind your (frank)ing business or get it right when you don't.

How about you practice what you preach.

YOU replied to my post and it was in response to something 2 other posters said, you were uninvolved until you decided to weigh in like a hero and tell everyone to eat a Richard because what you said was 'truth'.

Go back to page 17 if you need to have it right in front of your eyes that nobody was talking to or about you - I certainly wasn't.

As far as you resorting to name calling and then accusing me of trying to start fights and to mind my (frank)ing business or get it right - pretty sure that's you doing that and perhaps you should take your own advice.

The fact you are this bent over me saying this place shouldn't be a place where politics is discussed is pretty wild.

Well those of us Gen X'ers left will be in one bedroom assisted living residences, pooping our pants while you argue with the 'god dammed younger generation' simply by thinking of what you want to say and having your embedded AI chip send it out digitally to everyone.

I hope to be viewing replays of a recent (as in the next few years) Toronto Maple Leafs cup win.

If that doesn't happen I'll be making full use of an ancient relic - a VCR in my room where I will simply re-play this video cassette in my senile state and smile.....

Habs are 13-6-1 in their last 20 games.

If they keep this up, they definatly have a chance to make it.

Being the underdog is fine, we always were in 2021 and made it pretty far.

I agree. The Atlantic is the most competitive division in the NHL. 7 out of 8 teams are playing over .500 hockey. I'm hoping that this is the year that the Bruins drop out of the playoffs and we get new blood into the playoffs. It seems like almost a decade of Bruins, Lightning, Panthers and Leafs playing each other. As a Leafs fan, I get tired of seeing the same playoff foes, year after year. I think that Ottawa is legit. They should have made the playoffs the last couple of years, but poor coaching and management got in the way. The Habs seem to be on a similar trajectory but their program is a couple of years behind. Florida, Boston and Tampa traded so much draft capital, that they're running out of gas
