The D is looking pretty suspect without Bahl in the lineup.
They are playing great and are fun to watch. They put in the effort most nights and make it interesting. All we can ask as fans.
But damn, we are kidding ourselves if we think this is a team that can go deep in the playoffs.
I think we need to trade Wolf. Otherwise, we will be like 90's Flames minus Iginla. |

The Flames have some strong comparisons to that year's edition of the Flames. Went into it a little further on twitter.
That said, I completely agree. The Flames are a "basement stairs" team with an elite goalie. Been digging through metrics lately and they're plain awful in some areas. They would likely be better off trading Wolf, but that simply won't happen.
Imagine though: Dustin Wolf for 2nd overall at the 2025 NHL entry draft. The Flames select Michael Misa and formally kick off a rebuild. |

Wow I can’t believe you agree to trade an amazing goalie that we stole in the 7th round a piece to build around to take a chance on a pick that could turn out to be nothing ? 1-2-3-4 don’t matter how high your picked doesn’t mean he will be good never mind elite like wolf is ,who was pick dead last lol , this way of thinking is mind blowing you don’t trade the rolls Royce in hope you May or may not find another , how about you dump the vets with value like Kadri and with luck huberdeau then weaponize the what 50 million in cap to attract a super star or just wait and see how we fair without them and use the cap to stock pile
More picks through a trade and or cap retention in a 3 way deal, but wow trading the shiniest perl in what 2 decades or more of drafting is just insane |

Exactly, Wolf is the main building block & even better you lock him up for the next 9 years with an 8 year extension & can probably get him at 8 years at 8.0 mill per. Then with next year & that 8 year extension, you have your top I guess 10 goalie in the league locked in for 9 years. Trade Andersson, Weegar, Kadri, crap trade Zary before you trade Wolf. That goalie position is so hard to hit on, you cant trade it when you suck out on it. |

I dunno about that one!
The problem is that Calgary is the slowest team in the league. In terms of player tracking; they're bottom three on any given night. Martin Pospisil is the only high-speed asset they have among 12 forwards. Lack of speed leads to so many other issues, including their 29th ranked offence: 2.65 goals per game.
That's most of the reason we've been tuning in this season to Wolf bailing out a group that struggles to make a clean zone entry. The team's forwards are arguably slower than even their affiliate's.
Wolf being able to steal wins already works against a complete roster overhaul. Bouying up an old, slow roster isn't getting the team any closer to a Cup.
With that said, it's been a fun ride so far! GFG |
